It was another action-packed day at Brighton beach in Adelaide, with the Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s 14 and 15-year-old 5km races kicking off the program on day two of the 2019 Australian Open Water Championship.<\/p>\n
Hitting the water in a staggered start with boys\u2019 races, the 15-year-old girls category saw Noosa\u2019s Finella Gibbs-Beal<\/strong> take home the gold in a time of 1:03:23.65, with Ally Moss-Hamilton<\/strong> (Mountain Creek Mooloolaba) grabbing the silver in 1:04:26.17 and Jacqeline Davison-McGovern<\/strong> finishing with bronze in a time of 1:05:42:08.<\/p>\n Josslyn Wishart<\/strong> (1:07:41.26) from Manly claimed the gold in the 14-year-olds race, while Ava Jankovic<\/strong> (1:09:26.27) picked up the silver and St Peters Western\u2019s Alexis Barnett<\/strong> (1:12:22.11) the bronze.<\/p>\n The 14 and 15-year-old boys made a splash first thing this morning, with Miami\u2019s Lucas Miller<\/strong> (1:02:42.08) taking out the title and Revesby Workers teammates Kai Robertson<\/strong> (1:03:52.30) and Fletcher Warn<\/strong> (1:04:02.11) claiming the silver and bronze respectively.<\/p>\n In a tight race for the finish, Carlile\u2019s Robert Thorpe<\/strong> (1:02:07.08) took out the gold in the Boy\u2019s 15-year-old race with Miami teammates Bailey Wellam<\/strong> (1:02:07.11) claiming the silver and Kai Harland<\/strong> (1:02:27.70) receiving the bronze medal.<\/p>\n Miami\u2019s Ruben Rees<\/strong> (59:59.06) continued his hot form, picking up gold in the Boy\u2019s 16-year-old 5km race to match his gold in the 7.5km race yesterday. Rees\u2019 teammate Kaiden Hubbard<\/strong> (1:00:26.01) secured the silver medal and Southside Aquatics\u2019 Jackson Clarke<\/strong> (1:00:29.80) claimed the bronze.<\/p>\n Kyle Lee<\/strong> (59:45.91) from Bunbury also won back-to-back gold following his win in yesterday\u2019s 7.5km for 17-year-old boys. In a repeat of yesterday, international swimmer William Thorley<\/strong> (59:47.79) touched in second and Manly\u2019s Kaye Logan<\/strong> (1:00:07.45) and Kawana Waters\u2019 Zachary Bromage<\/strong> (1:00:10.54) picked up the silver and bronze respectively as the second and third placed Australians.<\/p>\n New Zealand swimmer Ashleigh Allred<\/strong> (1:04:39.65) touched first in the Girl\u2019s 17-year-old 5km, with Pelican Waters\u2019 Ella Wassing<\/strong> (1:08:00.16) claiming the gold medal as the first Australian home. Randwick City\u2019s Isabella Coghlan<\/strong> (1:09:03.47) was the silver medallist and Miami\u2019s Caitlyn Miller<\/strong> (1:09:52.89) picked up the bronze medal.<\/p>\n Miami\u2019s Sara Tazaki<\/strong> added another gold to her collection from the championships, winning the Girl\u2019s 16-year-old 5km which followed her win the 7.5km race on Saturday. Hayley Rowlands<\/strong> from Revesby Workers was the silver medallist and Sunshine Coast Grammar\u2019s Chole Trevitt<\/strong> took home the bronze.<\/p>\n The Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s 18 and 19-year-olds 5km and the 14-and-over Boy\u2019s and Girl\u2019s Multi-Class 5km took to the water for the final race of the day.<\/p>\n
