The No. 3\/11-ranked Indiana University men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving teams swept the No. 24\/HM Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday afternoon at the Burke Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind.<\/p>\n

The No. 3 Indiana men\u2019s team (7-0) defeated No. 24 Purdue, 188-106, while the No. 11 IU women\u2019s squad took down the Boilermakers, 187.5-111.5. The win for the Hoosier men marked the team\u2019s 29th-straight dual-meet victory.<\/p>\n

Ohio State men win Shamrock<\/h3>\n

The No. 13 men and No. 15 women\u2019s Ohio State swimming & diving team completed the Shamrock Invitational strong on Saturday, held at the Rolfs Aquatic Center in Notre Dame, Ind. The Buckeyes won 11 events overall. After a career day to start the meet off, Ohio State notched 10 additional career-best times and 17 season bests.<\/p>\n

The men\u2019s team finished first with a total of 1,397 points, ahead of No. 23 Notre Dame (826.5), Iowa (780.5) and Missouri State (407). The women\u2019s team placed third with 873.5 points, behind No. 19 Notre Dame (1191.5) and Akron (960.5) and ahead of Iowa (434.5).<\/p>\n

Iowa freshman Sam Tamborski<\/strong> and sophomore Jayah Mathews<\/strong> dominated the 3-meter springboard with a 1-2 sweep. Tamborski posted a score of 321.05 followed by Mathews\u2019 score of 308.20. Mathews dove to a first-place finish on the 1-meter followed by a fourth-place showing from Tamborski (272.25) and sixth-place from Thelma Strandberg<\/strong> (266.75).<\/p>\n

Northwestern tops Cincinnati<\/h3>\n

Northwestern men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams capped off the weekend by winning a combined 19 events en route to defeating Cincinnati at the Keating Aquatics Center. The men won 172.5-127.5, while the women outpaced the Bearcats 170-129.<\/p>\n

The ‘Cats got off to a fast start, as the men’s and women’s 200 medley relay teams both finished first. The men’s team of Ryan Gridley, Will Hofstadter, Arjun Sharma<\/strong> and Andrew Zhang<\/strong> touched the wall in 1:30.26. Nicole Aarts, Sophie Angus, Miriam Guevara<\/strong> and Lily Kurzydlo<\/strong> finished in 1:41.59 for the women.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Calypso Sheridan<\/strong> swept all three of her individual events. She and junior Krytal Lara<\/strong> finished 1-2 in the 100 back, with times of 54.35 and 56.64, respectively. Sheridan then won the 200 back with a time of 1:59.82, while first year Emma Theobald touched in 2:01.86, taking second. Sheridan capped off her day by taking the top spot in the 200 breast with a time of 2:15.90, while Angus finished second in 2:17.51.<\/p>\n

Angus continued her success in the 100 breast, winning with a time of 1:02.85, while sophomore Becky Kamau<\/strong> came in second at 1:04.96.<\/p>\n

Nebraska tops Illinois<\/h3>\n

Despite winning six swimming events, as well as 1-meter diving, the Fighting Illini swimming and diving team couldn’t keep up with the Cornhuskers\u00a0on Saturday, falling 174-126.<\/p>\n

The meet marked senior day, as Illini veterans Ling Kuhn<\/strong>, Gabriele Serniute<\/strong> and Megan Vuong<\/strong>\u00a0were honored following competition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
