{"id":348886,"date":"2019-01-26T15:00:18","date_gmt":"2019-01-26T22:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=348886"},"modified":"2019-01-26T17:04:50","modified_gmt":"2019-01-27T00:04:50","slug":"2019-ncaa-varsity-womens-water-polo-conference-previews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-ncaa-varsity-womens-water-polo-conference-previews\/","title":{"rendered":"Swimming World&#8217;s Annual NCAA Varsity Women&#8217;s Water Polo Conference Previews are Complete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the 2019 NCAA women\u2019s water polo season\u2014which officially opened on Saturday, January 12th when Marist faced\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thesundevils.com\/news\/2019\/1\/12\/womens-water-polo-sun-devil-water-polo-wins-season-opener.aspx\">Arizona State<\/a>\u00a0at the ASU Invitational\u2014today, <em>Swimming World<\/em>\u00a0completed all the previews of the seven varsity conferences\u2014Big West, Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), Golden Coast Conference (GCC), Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) and Western Water Polo Association (WWPA)\u2014that will send teams to the 2019 NCAA Women\u2019s Water Polo Tournament.<\/p>\n<p>As a benchmark, we used the CWPA Women\u2019s Varsity Preseason Poll that released on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/collegiatewaterpolo.org\/collegiate-water-polo-association-releases-2019-womens-varsity-preseason-polls-defending-national-champion-the-university-of-southern-california-to-open-at-no-1\/\">January 16th<\/a>\u00a0as a gauge for rankings. Obviously, rankings change on a weekly basis, but the many coaches and knowledgeable individuals who oversee that poll provide invaluable perspective on where individual teams stand. <em>Swimming World<\/em> also refers to preseason coaches polls in determining previews; again, these are invaluable instruments for assigning relative value for specific programs.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2019-womens-water-polo-preview-the-big-west-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big West Conference<\/a>; our pick is:\u00a0<strong>University of Hawai&#8217;i<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/2018-womens-water-polo-preview-collegiate-water-polo-association\/\" is: <strong>University of California San Diego<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the past week, <em>Swimming World<\/em>\u00a0posted previews of the seven conferences that will send teams to the 2019 NCAA Women\u2019s Water Polo Tournament which will be held from Thursday, May 10 through 12 at Stanford\u2019s Avery Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, as in previous years we did features with water
