The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/usa-swimming-releases-time-standards-for-2019-phillips-66-nationals\/\">2019 Phillips 66 Summer Nationals<\/a> will serve as the official selection meet for the championships for the American team.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum team size is 26 men and 26 women.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Priority #1: first placing available based on the final results in each event other than the 100 and 200 freestyle, which will select the four fastest eligible swimmers from the meet.<\/li>\n<li>Priority #2: second placing available swimmer based on final results in each event except in 100 and 200 free.<\/li>\n<li>Priority #3: fifth place available swimmer based on final results in 100 free.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The official team announcement will take place on August 8, 2019 at approximately 12:00 p.m. MST.<\/li>\n<li>If a Priority #2 swimmer fails to make the Team because the Team is full, then the swimmer already on the Team who has recorded the fastest time in that vacant individual Event during the period from January 1, 2018, through and including July 28, 2019, will be given the opportunity to swim that Event.<\/li>\n<li>If one of the top two finishing Available Swimmers in an individual Event at the Qualifying Competition chooses not to swim in that Event at the Championships, the vacancy will be filled by the next available swimmers from the Qualifying Competition subject to limitations.<\/li>\n<li>All swimmers who are Selected to the Team shall be eligible for selection to any and all relays to be held at the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championship.\u00a0The National Junior Team Director, in consultation with the Head Coaches and the assistant coaches, shall select the swimmers for each relay conducted at the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships.<\/li>\n<li>The team will depart for Budapest on August 15 from Washington D.C. and arrive in Budapest on the 16th.
