The holiday weekend was a long one of racing in Division III, with a few big meets on Friday and action stretching the whole way into Monday aftternoon. A weekend snowstorm postponed a few meets, including one in upstate New York between two ranked teams: SUNY Geneseo and Case Western.<\/p>\n

SUNY Geneseo Defends Home Turf Against Case Western<\/h2>\n

In their postponed senior meet, the SUNY Geneseo Blue Wave beat Case Western Reserve University on Monday afternoon. The #13 women were dominant against the #16 Case Western team, winning 174.5 to 120.5, including going exhibition at the end of the meet. The Blue Wave men won a much closer meet, 165 to 135.<\/p>\n

Geneseo senior\u00a0Nancy Nasky\u00a0<\/strong>won the 1000 (10:45.84) and the 500 (5:12.35), leading a one-two finish in both. Her teammate\u00a0Deidra Osula\u00a0<\/strong>beat Case Western’s\u00a0Suhan Mestha\u00a0<\/strong>24.19 to 24.74 in the 50 free. Mestha had the upper hand in the 100, winning that 54.27 to 55.33.<\/p>\n

Matthew Mattera\u00a0<\/strong>led a one-two finish in the 1000 in 9:55.20 for Geneseo. He was also 4:49.97 to win the 500. His teammate\u00a0Kaz Sampson\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:01.00 to win the 100 breaststroke.<\/p>\n

In the 200 backstroke three men were under two minutes. Case Western’s\u00a0Will McDonald\u00a0<\/strong>held off Geneseo’s\u00a0Mitchell Phelps<\/strong>‘ fast closing 50 to get the victory, 1:56.73 to 1:56.99. Phelps won the 100 fly in 52.46.<\/p>\n
