Madisyn Cox<\/strong> soared to the top time in the world this year in the 200-meter individual medley (long course) on Saturday at the Longhorn Invite.<\/p>\n

Cox, swimming for Longhorn Aquatics, clocked a 2:10.29, nearly a half-second off her career-best time (2:09.69) at the 2018 USA nationals.<\/p>\n

Her time passes the previous fastest of the year, set by Melanie Margalis<\/strong> (2:10.43).<\/p>\n

Cox finished well ahead of the rest of the field at the Longhorn Invite, as Evie Pfeifer<\/strong> finished second in 2:15.78.<\/p>\n

Texas senior John Shebat<\/strong> won the 200 IM (2:03.81). Clark Smith<\/strong>, swimming for Longhorn Aquatics, won the 400 free in 3:53.17. Santa Clara\u2019s Nicole Oliva<\/strong> (4:17.26) won the women\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

Santa Clara\u2019s Angela Quan<\/strong>, 14, won the 100 fly in 1:02.78.<\/p>\n

Texas freshman Grace Ariola<\/strong> won the 50 free (25.37)., while Denver Hilltoppers\u2019 Kyle Robrock<\/strong> won the men\u2019s race in 23.13. Texas sophomore Preston Varozza<\/strong> won the 100 back (57.15), while Scottsdale Aquatic Club\u2019s Greer Pattison<\/strong>, 16, won the women\u2019s race in 1:03.87.<\/p>\n
