That was in 1995. In 2019, that record finally has gone down.\u00a0<strong>Daniel Branon<\/strong>, who competes for the same North Baltimore Aquatic Club Phelps swam for, put up a time of 31.42 in the 50 fly to win the event at the Speedo Winter Invitational.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FhSFr5BSt8s\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Branon was also victorious in the 200 IM, using a strong finish to beat Long Island&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Andrew Koek<\/strong>, 2:45.57 to 2:46.78. Later on, Koek won the 50 breast in 38.13. Also in the 10-and-under boys&#8217; category, Long Island&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>James Darcy\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 free in 2:25.72.<\/p>\n<p>For the 10-and-under girls, Berkeley&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kiera Harkins\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 fly in 35.41 and Long Island&#8217;s <strong>Samantha Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>took first in the 200 free (2:34.60). North Baltimore swimmers\u00a0<strong>Angel Kadoorie\u00a0<\/strong>(200 IM, 2:50.75) and\u00a0<strong>Chrissy Furlow\u00a0<\/strong>(50 breast, 42.42) also had victories.<\/p>\n<p>Long Island&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brooke Armstrong\u00a0<\/strong>finished first in the 11-12 girls&#8217; 50 free (29.21) and 200 free (2:15.58), and her teammate\u00a0<strong>Praise Okodogbe\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 fly (1:06.71). North Baltimore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ana Hazlehurst\u00a0<\/strong>won the 100 breast for that age group in 1:21.74.<\/p>\n<p>For the second straight day, Long Island Aquatic Club put on a show in the 11-12 boys&#8217; events, with\u00a0<strong>Matthew Peitler\u00a0<\/strong>winning the 50 (29.56) and 200 free (2:14.43),\u00a0<strong>Ethan Nus\u00a0<\/strong>taking first in the 100 fly (1:09.23) and\u00a0<strong>Matt Zhao\u00a0<\/strong>winning the 100 breast (1:21.67).<\/p>\n<p>North Baltimore teammates\u00a0<strong>Taylor McNerney<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Logan Betkey<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Skye Bilger\u00a0<\/strong>all won events in the 13-14 girls&#8217; division. McNerney was victorious in the 200 fly (2:32.21), Betkey won the 100 free (1:01.05) and Bilger touched first in the 400 IM (5:18.85). Scualos&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Julia Golovina\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 free in 27.97.<\/p>\n<p>North Baltimore&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sam Kamdin\u00a0<\/strong>won the 13-14 boys&#8217; 50 (25.77) and 100 free (55.82), and teammate\u00a0<strong>Ryan Merani\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 fly (2:13.04).
