Swimming is one of the most popular sports in the United States in 2017, an estimated 86 million people went swimming in the U.S.A, and it has become\u00a0 the top 3rd most viewed sports at the Olympics year on year. This sport adored by millions needs its future to be assured, and the future of America\u2019s top swim athletes, by helping to secure their spot on the winner\u2019s podium.<\/p>\n
In an effort to help swimmers become champions, the Stand by Me Foundation has been created. The focus of this non-profit charity is to support American athletes who often receive little to no financial aid, grow the sport of swimming, as well as promote water safety.<\/p>\n
The United States is one of the few countries globally which does not provide funding for its Olympic level swimmers. The average income of most Olympic hopefuls is less than $20,000 per year, however the majority of elite athletes incur expenses of $25,000 to $40,000 annually for coaching, equipment and travel. Therefore, support from organizations such as the Stand by Me Foundation is crucial to the success of American swimmers and achieving gold at the 2020 Summer Olympic games in Tokyo.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmerica\u2019s top swimmers of today and tomorrow need our brands and our people to stand by our top swimming talent. The creation of the Stand by Me Foundation is to help USA swimmers and give financial support to these hard working athletes. Most USA athletes spend more than $1,000-$3,000 of their own money every month, while other swimmers from around the world often get financial backing from their home countries. The Stand by Me Foundation is what America\u2019s next generation of top swimmers need to develop their skills and get to the Olympic stage, achieve their dreams, and to bring home a gold!\u201d says Stand by Me Founder David Marsh.<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Stand by Me Foundation has been established this month by top Olympic swim coach David Marsh<\/strong>. He is a world class swim coach, who has trained 49 Olympians from 19 different countries in his 30+ year career. Marsh is the Head Team Elite Coach and was the Head U.S. Olympic Women’s Swim Coach in Rio, leading Team USA to win the most medals in USA Swimming’s already storied modern history.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so excited about the creation of the Stand by Me Foundation, the support of organizations like these are exactly what America\u2019s swimming community needs. Swimmers like myself who are training hard and hope to race well and qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and of course bring home medals, need ongoing support to make it possible\u201d says Michael Chadwick<\/strong>, a World Championship Gold Medalist of Team Elite.<\/p>\n
Team Elite is a high-performance swimming team based in San Diego, one of many supported by The Stand by Me Foundation. Since 2016 they have\u00a0placed more athletes on the USA Olympic team than any other program. Each member of the team are actively involved in grass root programs that help children learn to swim. Despite their great success on the podium, Team Elite, and the sport of swimming in the USA, still lacks support and funding.<\/p>\n
The Stand by Me Foundation aims to give American swimmers the chance to make their dreams a reality and represent their country at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.<\/p>\n
