23-year-old\u00a0Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>talked to the media on Friday night at the 2019 TYR Pro Swim Series in Knoxville about his experience at the Short Course World Championships last month in China. He talked about the hyper-competitive races he had with some of the best backstrokers in the world including\u00a0Evgeny Rylov<\/strong> and\u00a0Mitch Larkin<\/strong>, who will be some of his biggest competition at World Championships this summer.<\/p>\n

Murphy talked about how he didn’t focus too much on times at the meet, which was swum in short course meters, a course Murphy and the rest of the Americans don’t get to race in too often.<\/p>\n

Murphy also talked about what things he will focus on between now and the World Championships in July and what he thought of his races here in Knoxville. Murphy won the 100 back<\/a> on Friday night with a 53.17.<\/p>\n

Murphy also talked about what it has been like having his brother\u00a0Patrick Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>on deck as he took on a new role at USA Swimming.<\/p>\n
