The Olympic gold medalist and world record-holder went out in 25.54, only four tenths off his own WR pace, and he ended up finishing in a strong time of 53.17.<\/p>\n<p>A pair of Murphy&#8217;s Cal teammates,\u00a0<strong>Daniel Carr\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Bryce Mefford<\/strong>, took second and third, respectively.
