MORGANTOWN, W.Va. \u2013\u00a0Following their performances in the Backyard Brawl on Jan. 5, the West Virginia University men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving teams swept this week\u2019s Big 12 Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.<\/p>

Sophomore Angelo Russo<\/strong> was named the Men\u2019s Swimmer of the Week, while junior Morgan Bullock<\/strong> was awarded the Women\u2019s Swimmer of the Week. In diving, freshman P.J. Lenz<\/strong> was named the Men\u2019s Diver of the Week, while senior Averly Hobbs<\/strong> earned Women\u2019s Swimmer of the Week honors.<\/p>

The Mountaineers earned all four of the league\u2019s weekly awards for the first time this season and fourth time in program history. Bullock received the accolade for the third time in her career and first this season, while Hobbs was recognized for the second time this season.<\/p>

Russo and Lenz earned their first career conference accolades.<\/p>

Russo helped the Mountaineer men\u2019s team to an individual and relay win against Pitt at Joe C. Trees Pool in Pittsburgh. First, he won the 100 backstroke in 49.15, before helping the 400 freestyle relay team to a first-place finish in 3:00.51. The Roanoke, Virginia, native also swam with the second-place 200 medley relay team (1:29.39), and he placed third in the 200 backstroke (1:50.50).<\/p>

Bullock won four total events, including three individually, at Pitt. After helping the women\u2019s 200 medley relay team to a win with a time of 1:44.24, the Zeeland, Michigan, native went on to win the 100 butterfly (55.43), 200 butterfly (2:00.58) and 200 individual medley (2:05.17).<\/p>

Bullock also was named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.<\/p>

Lenz earned a sweep on springboard against the Panthers, winning the men\u2019s 1- and 3-meter dives. The Prior Lake, Minnesota, native began the day with a victory on 3-meter with a career-best score of 334.20. Later, he won on 1-meter, with a score of 305.63.<\/p>

For Hobbs, the senior finished second on 1- and 3-meter, earning scores of 285.60 and 304.43, respectively. A native of Littleton, Colorado, Hobbs also was named the Big 12 Women\u2019s Diver of the Week on Oct. 17.<\/p>

Earlier this season, sophomore David Dixon earned a pair of Men\u2019s Swimmer of the Week awards, on Oct. 17, and Oct. 31, while freshman diver Nick Cover earned Men\u2019s Diver of the Week honors on Oct. 17.<\/p>

West Virginia returns home on Saturday, Jan. 12, for a Big 12 dual meet against TCU in Morgantown. Prior to the meet, the Mountaineer will honor this year’s senior class, and a large contingent of alumni are expected to attend the final meet in WVU Natatorium history.<\/p>

The action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET.<\/p>
