WE&#039;RE 44 days from the start of the FINA world aquatics championships, and host city Barcelona got into the spirit of aquatic sports with a special flash mob performance of the event&#039;s theme song, &#8220;Planeta Agua (Planet Water).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Joining world championships mascot Xop at the Bernat Picornell pool (the water polo venue and the site of swimming competition at the 1992 Olympics) were 2,013 volunteers, who danced to Ivan Gas&#039; song in the stands and in the water. Members of the Residencia Blume synchronized swimming team in Barcelona provided in-water move that were, well, in sync with what others were doing on land.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"264\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A3-ORNv8neQ\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Most of the song is performed in Catalan, the primary dialect of Barcelona, but the chorus is sung in English as well:<\/p>\n<p>Come with me to Planet Water<br \/>\nSwimming, jumping<br \/>\nWe&#039;re all singing<br \/>\nYour blue gills are your best banner<br \/>\nDance with Xop the drop of water<\/p>\n<p>And here&#039;s a translation of one of the verses, incorporating all aquatic sports into the lyrics, with the exception of diving:<\/p>\n<p>If I swim freestyle<br \/>\nOr if I do breaststroke<br \/>\nI look for fish<br \/>\nIn saltwater<br \/>\nLeg up<br \/>\nShoot toward the goal<br \/>\nCome and cheer<br \/>\nAt the great event<br \/>\nI am water, and on my planet<br \/>\nI am water, we are happy<br \/>\nI am water, I hear the call<br \/>\nI am water, I hear your laughter<\/p>\n<p>The song has an official music video:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"264\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8hRF4ipBLbk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BARCELONA, Spain, June 5.
