The men&#8217;s meet was much closer, with the number 14 Amherst men edging the number 19 Ephs 123 to 114.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Men<\/h3><p>The men&#8217;s meet came down to the final relay. And not just the final relay, but the final strokes, as Amherst out touched Williams by a mere .21 to win the dual meet.<\/p><p>The Mammoths started the meet with a significant relay victory, as <strong>Craig Smith, Sean Mebust, Jack Koravos<\/strong>, and <strong>Scott Romeyn<\/strong> combined for a 3:22.69.<\/p><p>Williams&#8217; <strong>Andrew Trunsky<\/strong> posted a 9:44.54 to win the 1000 for the Ephs. His teammate <strong>Jamie Lovette<\/strong> led another one-two finish for Williams with his 1:40.56 200 freestyle.<\/p><p>Freshman <strong>Scott Romeyn<\/strong> and junior <strong>Jack Koravos<\/strong> fired back for Amherst, taking the top two spots in the 50 free in 20.99 and 21.21.<\/p><p>Williams went one-two-three in the 200 IM as <strong>Sean Tan<\/strong> got to the wall in 1:54.43, followed by <strong>Jackson Karofsky<\/strong> (1:55.88) and <strong>Paul Leclerc<\/strong> (1:56.44). The home team continued to dominate with Tan and <strong>Lucca Delcompare<\/strong> tying for first in the 200 fly (1:52.91), and teammate <strong>David Pearcy<\/strong> picking up third place points (1:54.57).<\/p><p>Lovette also returned to win the 100 free in 46.77, .01 ahead of teammate <strong>Curtis Maher<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Williams&#8217; lack of male divers was huge for Amherst, as they racked up first, second, and third place points on both boards.<\/p><p>Amherst finally picked up another swimming victory with a 1:51.97 200 backstroke from Smith.<\/p><p>Karofsky and Trunsky were first and second for Williams in the 500 free in 4:40.66 and 4:43.97, respectively.<\/p><p>Mebust, the leader of arguably the deepest breaststroke group in the NESCAC won the 200 breast in 2:05.03 ahead of teammates <strong>Josh Chen<\/strong> (2:10.59) and <strong>Gary Sun <\/strong>(2:10.65).<\/p><p>With the meet on the line, <strong>Tristan So<\/strong> led Amherst off three tenths ahead of <strong>William Zhang<\/strong> in the 400 freestyle relay. <strong>Jack Koravos<\/strong> outsplit Williams&#8217; second leg <strong>Aaron Stanton<\/strong> to give the Mammoths a half second lead at the halfway mark. Lovette brought the margin down to just two tenths on the third leg. Full results <a href=\"https:\/\/d2o2figo6ddd0g.cloudfront.net\/j\/u\/s9hdb0cmzb7650\/will_v_amhe_men_results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here (opens in a new tab)\">here<\/a>.<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Women<\/h3><p>The Williams women started the meet off hot, strong all around as the 200 medley relay of <strong>Veronica Wolff, Caroline White, Maia Hare<\/strong>, and <strong>Laura Westphal<\/strong> turned in a time of 1:46.61, a second and a half ahead of Amherst&#8217;s 1:48.32.<\/p><p>The Ephs rolled through the 1000, taking the top four spots led by sophomore <strong>Gwyneth Maloy<\/strong> in 10:42.33. Her classmate Westphal led a one-two finish in the 200 free with her 1:53.16.<\/p><p>Freshman backstroker <strong>Abby Matheny<\/strong> kept things rolling for Williams in the 100 back, touching out Amherst&#8217;s <strong>Bridgitte Kwong<\/strong> 59.50 to 59.55.<\/p><p>Matheny also won the 200 backstroke in a quick 2:04.61, just faster than Kwong&#8217;s 2:04.98. Williams got another win from a first year as <strong>Anna Peterson<\/strong> led a 100 butterfly sweep in 57.79. Hare (58.45) and Wolff (58.62) followed.<\/p><p>White edged the Mammoth&#8217;s <strong>Nina Fitzgerald<\/strong> 1:05.22 to 1:05.38 to win the 100 breaststroke. She made it a double victory, coming back with a 2:21.68 200 breaststroke. Fitzgerald was second in 2:24.87.<\/p><p>All around star <strong>Molly Craig<\/strong> sped to a 2:05.04 200 fly to win that event while teammate Wolff was runner up in 2:06.21. Craig was runner up in the 500 free (5:07.44) behind teammate Westphal (5:04.76). Craig added a 200 IM victory, getting to the wall in 2:07.42 while Kwong picked up her third runner up finish of the day in 2:09.94.<\/p><p>Amherst picked up a victory in the 50 free when <strong>Ingrid Shu<\/strong> got to the wall in 24.27. She was followed by four Ephs. <strong>Natalie Rumpelt<\/strong> continued the sprinting success for the Mammoths with a winning 52.61 in the 100 free.<\/p><p><strong>Lindsey Ruderman<\/strong> put together two wins for Amherst, taking one meter diving with a score of 303.91 and three meter with 334.50 points.<\/p><p>After all four legs of their B and C relay outsplit one leg of the A, Williams had a tough time keeping up with Amherst in the final 4&#215;100 freestyle relay. <strong>Livia Domenig, Dorit Song<\/strong>, Shu, and Rumpelt clocked a 3:34.81 to win the final race for the Mammoths while Williams was second in 3:37.02.<\/p><p>Full results <a href=\"https:\/\/d2o2figo6ddd0g.cloudfront.net\/g\/c\/xd4oe8u0seebh6\/will_v_amhe_women_results.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here (opens in a new tab)\">here<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday afternoon Williams College and Amherst College each walked out of Samuelson-Muir pool with a victory.
