USA Diving yesterday named 15 athletes to participate in the world championships in Barcelona this summer, including Olympic champion David Boudia, who will compete in just the individual 10-meter event, and Troy Dumais, who is going to his eighth world championships and will be in the synchro 3-meter event. Like Boudia and Dumais, Ipsen won a medal at the London Olympics and will be competing in the individual 1-meter and 3-meter events in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>Ipsen won his Olympic medal in the synchro 3-meter with Dumais last summer, but it will be Michael Hixon who will partner with Dumais this summer. Hixon has had some international experience on the junior level, winning medals at the Youth Olympic Games and junior Pan American Games. The other three members of the men&#039;s roster, David Bonuchi, Harrison Jones and Toby Stanley, are also stepping up to the senior world stage after previous stints diving at the junior level.<\/p>\n<p>Six of the eight members of the women&#039;s American diving squad will be making their international diving debuts. Oddly enough, this will be the first international competition for 25-year-old Amanda Burke after many years competing at the national level. Samantha Pickens and Tori Lamp had impressive performances at the recent NCAAs and their success at the collegiate level could translate to good things at worlds. Three others making big debuts are Cheyenne Cousineau, Deidre Freeman and Maren Taylor. Murphy Bromberg&#039;s best international performance was third at the 2012 junior worlds, while Amy Cozad will be the most seasoned veteran, having competed at the Pan American Games and World University Games.<\/p>\n<p>The diving competition at the world championships will take place July 20 through 28 and will be held at the same iconic location on Montjuic Hill as the 1992 Olympics, which provided stunning views of the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, May 22.
