ON yesterday&#039;s show we neglected to mention the amazing final of the women&#039;s NCAA Division I water polo tournament featuring the defending champions from Stanford University, and the University of Southern California. Stanford&#039;s squad featured Maggie Steffens, the MVP of the women&#039;s water polo tournament at last year&#039;s Olympics, which on paper would make the Cardinal unstoppable. But USC was not letting up, and after regulation play the score was tied 9-9. It took five overtimes for the Trojans to post the winning goal, by freshman Anni Espar. Espar has some Olympic pedigree herself, helping Spain win the silver medal in London. The match set an NCAA record as the first time a women&#039;s championship game has gone into overtime. Ironically, USC&#039;s only loss this season was to Stanford in the regular season.<\/p>\n<p>After a very successful Olympics, USA Diving is set to pick its world championship team starting tomorrow in Tallahassee, Florida. All six of the divers who won medals in London will be in the meet, including David Boudia, who won gold on the platform and was recently a part of the ABC reality celebrity diving show Splash. Unlike the Olympics, the world championships features a 1-meter springboard event, so USA Diving will likely have a larger team going to Barcelona.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, May 14.
