She placed 17th in the 100 free at Juniors East earlier this month in a new lifetime best and also swam personal bests in the 50 free and 100 fly. She was the 100m free runner-up and took sixth in the 50m free at Richmond Futures this past summer after earning the silver in the 100m free at New England Seniors. She also finaled in four events at Ithaca Speedo Sectionals in March.<\/p>\n<p>Also representing Cape Elizabeth High School, Tighe is a six-time Maine Class B State Championship finalist. The NISCA and USA Swimming Scholastic All-American\u00a0won the 500 free as well as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/olivia-tighe-leads-cape-elizabeth-to-maine-class-b-state-championship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100 free in state record-setting fashion<\/a> during her junior season.\u00a0She also won both the 100 fly and 100 free as a sophomore and\u00a0earned 200 free gold with a 500 free silver during her freshman campaign.<\/p>\n<p>She told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>&#8220;I am extremely honored and excited to continue my education and swimming career at Duke University.\u00a0I\u2019m so grateful for my family, friends and coaches for supporting me on this amazing journey. Many thanks to Coach Dan and his staff\u00a0for this incredible opportunity &#8211; can\u2019t wait to be a Blue Devil in 2019!!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 23.54<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 50.04<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:49.40<\/li>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 56.93<\/li>\n<li>200 IM &#8211; 2:05.08<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When she suits up for the Blue Devils as a member of the class of 2023, Tighe will join a talented freestyle group that includes\u00a0<strong>Alyssa Marsh<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Melissa Pish<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Easop Lee<\/strong>.
