NEW COMMIT: <\/strong>Austin, Texas\u2019 Isabelle Guerra<\/strong> has made her commitment to the University of Illinois and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2019.<\/p>\n

Guerra swims year-round with Austin Swim Club under head coach Chris Coghill<\/strong>. She most recently competed in both medley relays at Juniors West earlier this month after placing 11th in the 100 back at the Southern Senior Championships. She raced seven events at Austin Speedo Sectionals in July and recorded a lifetime best at College Station Speedo Sectionals in March. Also representing Westlake High School, Guerra is a three-time UIL Texas 6A State Championship finalist. She finished sixth in the 50 free during her junior season after placing 16th in that event as a sophomore.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

She told Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I stepped on campus for the first time I immediately knew that it was the school for me. I had visited school after school and had never got \u201cthe feeling,\u201d but as soon as I drove through the campus I knew it was the school for me. As Elliot took me around the campus and we explored all of the facilities, I continued to fall more in love with the school. It was everything I wanted both academically and athletically and, going into my senior year, all I could think of was Illinois. When I went on my official visit, I had so much fun with all of the girls and I instantly felt like part of the team. Sue, Elliot, and Manny were incredibly welcoming as well and they were another big factor in my decision. Elliot has been a huge help throughout my entire recruiting process and Sue provided me with constant support and gladly answered all of the questions from me and my parents. I also fell in love with the bioengineering department, which has a wealth resources and opportunities that helped to solidify my decision to go there. When I got back to Austin, I found myself wishing I was still there and I knew that I wanted to spend the next four years there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
