Swimming World<\/em>\u2019s Male NCAA Performance of the Year goes to Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> for his dominant three-event performance at the men\u2019s NCAA championships this March. After all of his historic performances, how could we choose one over the other?<\/p>\n

Dresser\u2019s 50 yd free had it\u2019s own historical significance with it marking Dressel as the first man to ever break 18-seconds in a 50 free, from a flat-start.<\/p>\n

Dressel\u2019s 42.80 to win the 100 yd fly would make him the first man to get under 43-seconds in the event, making him the new American and NCAA record holder by a large margin.<\/p>\n

His 100 yd free had, at least, equally as much historical significance with him being the first man to swim the event under 40-seconds with his 39.90.<\/p>\n

Not to mention the fastest relay split in history.<\/p>\n

100 yard Free<\/h3>\n

Florida\u2019s Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> continues to smash barriers by breaking yet another NCAA and American record, this time in the 100 free where he produced a 39.90. This makes Dressel the first and only swimmer to break 40-seconds in a 100 free, making for the third major barrier the Gator senior has broken at this meet alone.<\/p>\n

Dressel was the only swimmer in the heat out in under 19-seconds for the first 50, where he split 18.96.<\/p>\n

Touching second in the A final was NC State\u2019s Ryan Held<\/strong> in a 41.08 which ties him with Nathan Adrian for fifth all-time. Fellow Wolfpack member Justin Ress<\/strong> threw down a 41.49 for third place overall.<\/p>\n

Touching in eighth was USC\u2019s Santo Condorelli<\/strong> in a 42.34.<\/p>\n

Auburn\u2019s Zach Apple<\/strong> touched first in the B final with a 41.36.<\/p>\n

100 yard Fly<\/h3>\n
The A final of tonight\u2019s 100 fly featured the Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>\/Joseph Schooling<\/strong> showdown where Dressel emerged victorious in a time of 42.80. This marks Dressel as the fastest all time in the event, continuing his record-breaking weekend.<\/p>\n
Dressel continues to marvel with his unmatched speed and unparalleled underwater dolphin kick abilities. Dressel was out first at the 50 in a 19.99, with NC State\u2019s Ryan<\/strong> Held<\/strong> trailing in 20.55. By the finish, Dressel had come back in a 22.81 to win it while Held (44.88) would fade to fifth.<\/p>\n
Dressel\u2019s fellow Gator teammate\u00a0Jan Switkowski<\/strong> got by Schooling for second place in a time of 44.49 while Indiana\u2019s Vini Lanza<\/strong> touched third in 44.50. Former NCAA champion from two years ago, Schooling, faded to fourth in a time of 44.68. Rounding out the A final in a 45.11 was Cal\u2019s Matthew Josa<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In tonight\u2019s 50 free A final Florida Gator Caeleb Dressel<\/strong> threw down yet another NCAA and American record with a 17.63 to win by nearly a second ahead of NC State\u2019s Ryan Held<\/strong>. Minnesota\u2019s Bowen Becker<\/strong> snuck into third with a 18.90.<\/p>\n
USC\u2019s Santo Condorelli<\/strong> touched first in the B final with a 18.99.<\/p>\n
