NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Brookhaven, Penn. native and high school junior\u00a0Emma Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>has announced her verbal commitment to Virginia Tech and will join the Hokies in the fall of 2020.<\/p>\n

Atkinson does her club swimming with Germantown Aquatic Club and owns seven Winter Juniors (or faster) qualifying standards. She won the 200m free and 200m back and was the 100m back runner-up at NCSAs this past summer after making two finals appearances in both backstroke events at Phillips 66 Nationals. She also placed 21st in the 200m back at 2017 Summer Nationals and has participated in USA Swimming’s National Select Camp.<\/p>\n

Also representing Germantown Academy, Atkinson is a four-time Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championship finalist.\u00a0She won the 100 free and 200 free as a sophomore after placing second in both the 200 free and 100 back during her freshman season. Atkinson has also earned NISCA All-American honors twice in her career.<\/p>\n
