FEELING Olympic withdrawal? A special one-night theatrical event could be the cure for those looking for a cure to their post-Olympic blues, with the official U.S. release of the film &#8220;First.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The film, which has been a big hit in Europe in theaters and on DVD since November, follows the stories of 12 first-time Olympians in the journey they took to win Olympic gold in their respective sports. Missy Franklin is one of the athletes portrayed in the film, which got unprecedented access to athletes before their trip to London and includes official race footage from the London Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n<p>Fathom Events, which often runs special theatrical events such as music concerts and operas in multiplexes around the world, will play &#8220;First&#8221; in cinemas across the United States on Thursday, May 30, only. <a href=http:\/\/www.fathomevents.com\/#!first\/more-info\/details target=\"_blank\">Tickets, theaters and showtimes can be seen by clicking here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/olympics\/2013\/04\/30\/olympic-film-first-story-of-london-missy-franklin\/2123243\/ target=\"_blank\">USA Today<\/a> first reported on the theatrical event today, and Franklin said it would be difficult to watch the film because I will literally get so amped up I&#039;ll need to jump in the pool.&#8221; Coincidentally, Franklin will be competing in the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara, Calif., that week, though the meet schedule might prevent her from making it to the theater on time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;First&#8221; is the first film in the post-Bud Greenspan era to serve as the official Olympic video document.
