There were only five total preliminary events with three relays taking place. The Americans took the top seeds in four of the five events contested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annie Lazor\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>put up the top times in the individual events, while the American medley relay teams got themselves into lane four tonight. The Dutch were the other top seeded time in the women&#8217;s 4&#215;50 free relay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/omegatiming.com\/Competition?id=000112010cffffffffffffffffffffff&amp;day=6\">Live Results<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympicchannel.com\/en\/live\/video\/detail\/day-6-heats-fina-world-championships-hangzhou\/\">Live Stream<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 4&#215;50 Free Relay<\/h3>\n<p>The Netherlands qualified first in the women&#8217;s 4&#215;50 free relay with a 1:36.33 on the last morning of the 2018 FINA World Short Course Championships in Hangzhou, China. The Dutch swam\u00a0<strong>Femke Heemskerk\u00a0<\/strong>(23.93),\u00a0<strong>Kim Busch\u00a0<\/strong>(24.21),\u00a0<strong>Valerie van Roon\u00a0<\/strong>(24.20) and\u00a0<strong>Maaike de Waard\u00a0<\/strong>(23.99) as\u00a0<strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo\u00a0<\/strong>is expected to come in to strengthen the team in the final.<\/p>\n<p>The Dutch are ahead of the United States (1:36.65), who swam\u00a0<strong>Lia Neal\u00a0<\/strong>(24.45),\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga\u00a0<\/strong>(23.99),\u00a0<strong>Veronica Burchill\u00a0<\/strong>(24.44) and <strong>Erika Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(23.77). Murphy qualified first ahead of a very stacked final at 1:49.26, as he and\u00a0<strong>Mitch Larkin\u00a0<\/strong>of Australia were the only two under 1:50 in the heats. Larkin will swim in lane five tonight after his 1:49.55 heat swim.<\/p>\n<p>Murphy and Larkin are looking to take down three-time defending champion\u00a0<strong>Radoslaw Kawecki\u00a0<\/strong>of Poland, who is the third seed at 1:50.05. Kawecki has won the last three 200 back short course titles in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Lazor put up the top time in the 200 breast heats with a 2:18.99 as she was the only swimmer to break 2:20.<\/p>\n<p>Lazor will be joined in the final by the other American\u00a0<strong>Bethany Galat<\/strong>, who is also swimming in her only event at these championships. Galat placed fourth in the heats with a 2:20.58, as she is behind Belgium&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Fanny Lecluyse\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.31) and Russia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Maria Temnikova\u00a0<\/strong>(2:20.38).<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the field is tightly bunched as second through eighth were separated by less than a full second. The Americans swam a 3:23.22 as they are ahead of Brazil (3:23.86) and Germany (3:24.72) ahead of tonight&#8217;s final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matt Grevers\u00a0<\/strong>(49.97),\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>(57.70),\u00a0<strong>Jack Conger\u00a0<\/strong>(49.45) and\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni\u00a0<\/strong>(46.10) set up the Americans for a gold tonight. The Americans have not won this event at the World Short Course Championships since 2012 as Brazil and Russia have won the last two titles.<\/p>\n<p>The Americans are expected to bring in\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Andrew Wilson<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Held\u00a0<\/strong>in for tonight&#8217;s final. Three of those four legs swam on the relay at Pan Pacs this summer, meaning the Americans could be very tough to take down tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Brazil qualified second with\u00a0<strong>Guilherme Guido\u00a0<\/strong>(50.12),\u00a0<strong>Diego Prado\u00a0<\/strong>(57.11),\u00a0<strong>Nicholas Santos\u00a0<\/strong>(50.32) and\u00a0<strong>Breno Correia\u00a0<\/strong>(46.31) at 3:23.86.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the final was pretty tightly stacked as third through eighth are separated by a little over a second. All three of them medaled in the individual 100 with Smoliga taking gold, Meili and Dahlia taking silver, and Comerford taking bronze, so it is hard to see another country running them down in the final.<\/p>\n<p>Australia should make some adjustments to their lineup, moving <strong>Emily Seebohm\u00a0<\/strong>from the butterfly leg to the backstroke leg. Distance star\u00a0<strong>Ariarne Titmus\u00a0<\/strong>put up an impressive 52.92 freestyle anchor leg as she might end up staying on freestyle in the final.
