That time is only a little over a second off of the Netherlands 2014 world record.<\/p>\n<p>In second just over a second back was the U.S. team of\u00a0<strong>Leah Smith <\/strong>(1:55.85), Comerford (1:53.00), Margalis (1:53.59), and\u00a0<strong>Erika Brown\u00a0<\/strong>(1:52.86). \u00a0Their time of 7:35.30 took down the old American record from 2010 in the event. Just behind them in third was the team of Australia, who were second heading into the last leg but couldn&#8217;t hold off a charging Erika Brown. The Australian team also set a new national record.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith\u00a0(on her teammates\u2019 performances): <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u201cI was really inspired by the times my teammates were able to put up after me, and get in there for the medal. I\u2019m just really proud of all the girls I swam with and it\u2019s always an honor to swim on a relay for the USA.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Margalis\u00a0(on comparing her two silver medals tonight):<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"> \u201cIt\u2019s way more fun when you\u2019re with your friends. I definitely prefer a relay medal to an individual medal. I have been nervous all day long waiting for this relay tonight. It\u2019s a lot more fun when you get to share it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brown\u00a0(on competing in her first FINA World Championships final): <span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">\u201cI\u2019m just really thankful to be a part of Team USA with such great girls, and it\u2019s a great honor.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Anchoring the team to touch in third, Harkin said: <span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cI felt like I was the one who had to bring us home and we got there just in the end. I am so happy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #008000;\">\u201cI could not see the girl in the other lane, so it came down to the last touch. I was praying when I got to the wall it said.
