Japan’s\u00a0Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>made history in the men’s 400 IM, winning his fourth straight short course World Championships title in the event. Seto touched in 3:56.43, the only swimmer in the field under 4:00, securing his fourth consecutive victory in the event to become the first male in Short Course Worlds history to complete the four-peat in the 400 IM. Seto was also just off of his own Asian record of 3:56.33 in the event, and was just under a second away from\u00a0Ryan Lochte’s\u00a0<\/strong>world record.<\/p>\n

This continues a strong meet for the 24-year old, who broke the world record<\/a> in the 200 fly on the opening night of the meet.<\/p>\n

Australia’s\u00a0Thomas Fraser-Holmes\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 4:02.72, just beating out Brazilian\u00a0Brandonn Almeida\u00a0<\/strong>(4:03.71).<\/p>\n

Immediately after the race he said: \u201cIt came down to what I thought it might come down to for the medals and I just trusted my finish, trusted my freestyle and trusted my ability to go out and conserve energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to make sure I was on the podium tonight, to make sure I could re-establish myself after the last 12 months and I feel like I did that tonight,\u201d<\/span> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
