The session was bookended by a pair of World Records. Russian\u00a0<strong>Kirill Prigoda\u00a0<\/strong>clocked the 200 breaststroke world record. At the end of the night the American Mixed 4&#215;50 Medley Relay added a record of their own.<\/p>\n<p>In between\u00a0<strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo\u00a0<\/strong>set the Championship record in the 100 free and\u00a0<strong>Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>set an American record. Koch was over a second back, touching third in 2:01.42.<\/p>\n<p>The home country&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Haiyang Qin\u00a0<\/strong>earned silver with a 2:01.15, a new Asian Record. The previous record was a 51.37, held by her fellow countrywoman\u00a0<strong>Femke Heemskerk<\/strong>. He hit the wall in 50.90, a full four tenths of a second under his own mark.<\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Marco Orsi\u00a0<\/strong>and the USA&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>go into the final as the second and third seeds, with times of 51.42 and 51.44, respectively. Baker was out like a rocket and led the whole way through the 150. Bratton had the fastest final 50 meters in the field.<\/p>\n<p>That time keeps Bratton as the third fastest American ever, improving on her 2:01.00 from prelims. Baker remains the second fastest ever, having posted a 2:00.69 at a World Cup meet this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Seebohm\u00a0<\/strong>finished in 2:01.37 for bronze. That time earns him the top finals seed, a full two tenths ahead of Great Britain&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Benjamin Proud\u00a0<\/strong>in 20.71.\u00a0<strong>Vladimir Morozov\u00a0<\/strong>of Russia had the third fastest swim, a 20.83.<\/p>\n<p>Australian\u00a0<strong>Cameron McEvoy<\/strong> (20.91), Lithuania&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Simonas Bilis\u00a0<\/strong>(21.03) Brazilian\u00a0<strong>Cesar Cielo <\/strong>(21.06), and South Africa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Bradley Tandy<\/strong>\u00a0(21.07) also advance to tomorrow night&#8217;s final. Splitting a 20.09 the team touched first in 1:36.40, setting a new World Record in the process.\u00a0<strong>Olivia Smoliga<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Dahlia\u00a0<\/strong>swam the first three legs.<\/p>\n<p>The Netherlands&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Jesse Puts<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Ties Elzerman, Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Femke Heemskerek\u00a0<\/strong>finished second.<\/p>\n<p>Russia led after the backstroke as the team of\u00a0<strong>Kliment Kolesnikov<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Oleg Kostin<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rozaliya Nasretdinova<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Mariia Kameneva\u00a0<\/strong>ultimately finished third in 1:37.33.<\/p>\n<p>Japan (1:37.67) and Italy (1:38.08) were fourth and fifth.
