Touching the wall in 1:51.24, Smith obliterated <\/span><b>Mary T Meagher\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">15-16 National Age Group (NAG) record of 1:52.99 that had stood since 1981. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/paeG2u69AOc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith led for the entire race, distancing herself from the rest of the field through the 150, leaving no doubt that she would knock down yet another record and put her name in the record books. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smith, who has been known primarily as a backstroker, had flirted with Meagher\u2019s record last spring, with a 1:53.50 from Sectional in March of 2018.
