{"id":340415,"date":"2018-12-01T20:00:21","date_gmt":"2018-12-02T03:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=340415"},"modified":"2018-12-01T20:00:21","modified_gmt":"2018-12-02T03:00:21","slug":"texas-wins-seven-on-final-night-of-hall-of-fame-invite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-wins-seven-on-final-night-of-hall-of-fame-invite\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Wins Seven on Final Night of Hall of Fame Invite"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The final night of competition of the 2018 Texas Hall of Fame Invitational took place this evening and wrapped up what turned out to be one of the fastest invites of the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>For full results of tonight&#8217;s action, and the rest of the competition, click <a href=\"http:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/texas\/swim\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Texas Longhorns continued their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/longhorns-keep-winning-on-night-three-of-texas-hall-of-fame-invite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">successful run from last night&#8217;s finals session<\/a>\u00a0clinching seven total victories this evening, starting with the men&#8217;s 1650 free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chris Yeager<\/strong> threw down an NCAA &#8216;A&#8217; cut time of 14:32.13 to win the race for the Longhorns, taking it out quickly with a 50.64 on the first 100. 500 free champion from earlier in the meet, Arizona&#8217;s <strong>Brooks Fail<\/strong> touched second in an impressive 14:43.90. Stanford&#8217;s <strong>True Sweetser<\/strong> swam to a third place finish with his 14:46.43.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s race saw an Arizona 1-2 punch with <strong>Hannah Cox<\/strong> (15:57.89) and <strong>Kirsten<\/strong> <strong>Jacobse<\/strong> (16:06.28) taking first and second, respectively. <strong>Evie Pfeifer<\/strong> touched third for the Longhorns in 16:11.49.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beata Nelson<\/strong> followed up her A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/beata-nelson-cracks-american-record-in-100-back-with-49-67-at-texas-invite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">merican record performance in last night&#8217;s 100 back<\/a>, with a dominant win in tonight&#8217;s 200 back. Nelson touched first in 1:49.10, well ahead of Longhorn <strong>Quinn Carrozza<\/strong> who touched second in a 1:53.30. Arizona Wildcat <strong>Daniela<\/strong> <strong>Georges<\/strong> swam to a third place finish with her 1:55.88.<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s <strong>Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> posted a nation-leading time in the men&#8217;s 200 back with his 1:38.91, which earned him an NCAA &#8216;A&#8217; cut. Longhorn <strong>Ryan Harty<\/strong> took second with his 1:39.54 while Harvard&#8217;s <strong>Dean Farris<\/strong> nabbed third in 1:40.92.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas women captured another victory with <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> winning the 100 free in a 47.48, ahead of USC&#8217;s <strong>Marta Ciesla<\/strong> who produced a 47.89. A fleet of Longhorns followed Ciesla with <strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (48.09),<strong> Julia Cook<\/strong> (48.33) and <strong>Anelise Diener<\/strong> (48.52) taking third, fourth and fifth respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas men swept their 100 free A final with <strong>Tate Jackson<\/strong> blasting a 41.06 to lead the way while <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (42.15) and <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> (42.27) followed in second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>USC swept the women&#8217;s 200 breast with<strong> Maggie Aroesty<\/strong> (2:08.93), <strong>Riley Scott<\/strong> (2:09.01) and <strong>Isa Odgers<\/strong> (2:11.71).<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200 breast saw an impressive win from <strong>Charles Scheinfield<\/strong> who swam an NCAA &#8216;A&#8217; cut time of 1:52.78. Stanford&#8217;s duo of <strong>Matt Anderson<\/strong> (1:54.09) and <strong>Daniel<\/strong> <strong>Roy<\/strong> (1:54.62) took second and third respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Lady Longhorn <strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> broke up a Trojan sweep of the 200 fly with her third place finish in a time of 1:53.65. <strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> (1:51.52) and <strong>Madison Wright<\/strong> (1:52.48) ended up going 1-2.<\/p>\n<p>The Longhorns continued to roll with victories when <strong>Andrew Koustik<\/strong> swam a 1:42.39 to touch ahead of Stanford&#8217;s <strong>Alex Liang<\/strong> who produced a 1:43.32. Just .07 behind was <strong>Brendan Meyer<\/strong> who made a 1:43.39.<\/p>\n<p>Texas earned their sixth win of the night, in the 400 free relay, with their quartet of <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> (47.32), <strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (47.17), <strong>Julia Cook<\/strong> (47.25) and <strong>Anelise Diener<\/strong> (47.82) who produced an NCAA &#8216;A&#8217; time of 3:09.56. USC touched second with their time of 3:11.96. Arizona was third in 3:15.42.<\/p>\n<p>To cap off a spectacular showing by the Longhorns, the Texas squad of <strong>Drew Kibler<\/strong> (42.37), <strong>Tate Jackson<\/strong> (41.53), <strong>Jake Sannem<\/strong> (42.67) and <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> (42.39) earned their seventh total win of the night in a time of 2:48.96. Stanford&#8217;s &#8216;B&#8217; relay actually beat their &#8216;A&#8217; squad with a time of 2:51.96.
