One of those big wins was delivered from Lady Longhorn <strong>Joanna Evans<\/strong>, who was able to get by Olympic gold medalist <strong>Allison<\/strong> <strong>Schmitt<\/strong> in her signature 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight of the night was a quick 100 breast by USC&#8217;s <strong>Carsten Vissering<\/strong>, who threw down a 50.88 to win the A final by a half-second.<\/p>\n<p>Check below for a full recap of tonights action.<\/p>\n<p>For full results, click <a href=\"http:\/\/sidearmstats.com\/texas\/swim\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Texas Longhorns continued their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/texas-men-and-women-dominate-night-two-of-hall-of-fame-invite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dominance from last night<\/a> during tonight&#8217;s finals session with a win in the very first event; the women&#8217;s 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Lady Longhorn <strong>Evie Pfiefer<\/strong> dipped under the 4:10 barrier by producing a 4:09.11 to put her ahead of Arizona&#8217;s <strong>Hannah Cox<\/strong>, who swam a 4:10.74 for second. Pfeifer&#8217;s teammate, <strong>Maxine Walters<\/strong>, nabbed third with a 4:13.72.<\/p>\n<p>In the men&#8217;s 400 IM Stanford&#8217;s <strong>Alex Liang<\/strong> cruised to a win with a time of 3:42.90. A pair of Longhorns took followed Liang, with <strong>Braden Vines<\/strong> (3:45.76) in second and <strong>JT Larson<\/strong> (3:46.48) in third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s <strong>Louise Hansson<\/strong> took the women&#8217;s 100 fly with an NCAA &#8216;A&#8217; cut time of 49.80, making her the only woman in the field to get under the 50-second barrier. Texas senior <strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> earned second for the Longhorns with her 51.71. A fleet of Trojans followed Rule with <strong>Caitlin Tycz<\/strong> (52.21), <strong>Madison Wright<\/strong> (52.37) <strong>Catherine Sanchez<\/strong> (52.49) placing third, fourth and fifth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 100 fly saw Texas senior <strong>Tate Jackson<\/strong> touch first in a 45.78 while Arizona&#8217;s <strong>Chatham Dobbs<\/strong> was just .07 behind in 45.85. Just a tenth of a second behind Dobbs was USC&#8217;s <strong>Alex Valente<\/strong> in a 45.95.<\/p>\n<p>The Lady Longhorns continued to show their deep talent in the freestyle events with <strong>Joanna<\/strong> <strong>Evans<\/strong>, last night&#8217;s 500 free winner, taking the win in the 200 free with her 1:43.94. Evans edged Olympic gold medalist <strong>Allison Schmitt<\/strong> who touched second, just .01 behind, in a time of 1:43.95. USC&#8217;s <strong>Tatum Wade<\/strong> was third in the heat with a time of 1:44.37.<\/p>\n<p>Texas senior <strong>Townley Haas<\/strong> stepped up after a disappointing 4:20.57 in the 500 last night by winning the men&#8217;s 200 free tonight in a solid time of 1:33.24, which was just enough to get by Harvard&#8217;s <strong>Dean Farris<\/strong>, who touched second in a 1:33.53. Longhorn due of <strong>Jeff<\/strong> <strong>Newkirk<\/strong> (1:33.57) and <strong>Jake Sannem<\/strong> (1:33.78) took third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The Longhorns continued to roll with yet another victory, this time in the women&#8217;s 100 breast with <strong>Kennedy Lohman<\/strong> (59.86) getting past USC&#8217;s <strong>Riley Scott<\/strong> (59.99) by just .13. Fellow Trojans <strong>Maggie Aroesty<\/strong> (1:00.31) and <strong>Kirsten Vose<\/strong> (1:00.33) nabbed third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>USC&#8217;s <strong>Carsten Vissering<\/strong> dropped a monster 50.88 in the men&#8217;s 100 breast to earn a big win for the Trojans. Longhorn <strong>Charles Scheinfield<\/strong> posted an impressive 51.41, to get second while Stanford&#8217;s <strong>Matt Anderson<\/strong> touched third in 52.16.<\/p>\n<p>Wisconsin&#8217;s <strong>Beat Nelson<\/strong> followed up her 200 IM win from last night with her 100 back victory tonight, on her way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/beata-nelson-cracks-american-record-in-100-back-with-49-67-at-texas-invite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cracking the American record<\/a>. Nelson dropped a 49.67, which marked her as the only woman to go under 50-seconds in the field, and makes her the fastest American woman in history. Texas Trio of <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> (50.95), <strong>Julia Cook<\/strong> (51.70) and <strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (51.86) took second, third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard&#8217;s <strong>Dean Farris<\/strong> showed just how great of shape he&#8217;s really in, after placing second in the 200 free earlier in the evening, Farris earned another victory for the Crimson with his 45.26 in the 100 back. Texas Longhorn <strong>Ryan Harty<\/strong> earned second in 45.35. Arizona&#8217;s <strong>Chatham Dobbs<\/strong> also showed impressive versatility, after earning second in the 100 fly earlier in the evening, Dobbs nabbed a third place finish in the heat with his 45.85.<\/p>\n<p>For the relay action, the Wisconsin women upset the Longhorns by out-touching them by just .02. The Longhorns ending up earning back those lost points by touching second and third with their A and B relays. The A team of <strong>Claire Adams<\/strong> (24.33), <strong>Kennedy Lohman<\/strong> (27.59), <strong>Remedy Rule<\/strong> (23.13) and <strong>Grace Ariola<\/strong> (21.14) took second in a time of 1:36.19 while their B team comprised of <strong>Julia Cook\u00a0<\/strong> (24.41), <strong>Olivia Anderson<\/strong> (28.33) and <strong>Emily Reese<\/strong> (23.41) and <strong>Anelise Diener<\/strong> (21.83) produced a 1:37.98 for third.<\/p>\n<p>USC overtook the Longhorns by over a second in a time of 1:23.84, largely due to Vissering&#8217;s insane 22.95 breaststroke split. The Longhorns touched second in 1:24.97 with their squad of <strong>John Shebat<\/strong> (21.79), <strong>Charles Scheinfield<\/strong> (23.75), <strong>Tate Jackson<\/strong> (20.16) and <strong>Luke Bowman<\/strong> (19.27).
