Swimming World\u00a0is debuting a new video series called the Ross Report. It will be a weekly series where our head video producer\u00a0Andy Ross\u00a0<\/strong>will travel around the country to tell the stories of the swimmers and divers you don’t know much about.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

On the inaugural episode of the Ross Report, Ross traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana, to catch up with Purdue’s lone postgrad swimmer,\u00a0Kaersten Meitz<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Meitz is in her first year of post grad swimming, a status she never imagined she would achieve. She is in her second year of being on the US National Team and has already booked her ticket to swim at the World University Games<\/a> in the summer of 2019.<\/p>\n

Coming into college, her original goal was just to make NCAA’s, something she achieved every year of her career at Purdue. She steadily improved throughout her college career but saw a big jump the summer before her senior year in 2017. She finished fourth in the 400 free final at the US Nationals and qualified for the World University Games, all while she was working 40 hours per week at an internship in Indianapolis. Oh, and she was training alone that whole summer.<\/p>\n

It was after that summer that Meitz had serious considerations about continuing her career in the sport, ultimately deciding on it in December 2017. A few months later, she was approached by\u00a0Elle Meinholz<\/strong>, the marketing director for A3 Performance, about her future in swimming, and signed with the company at the end of April 2018.<\/p>\n

Meitz is coming off a successful summer where she finished fourth again in the 400 free at US Nationals, clinching her spot again on the World University Games team for 2019.<\/p>\n
