{"id":340095,"date":"2018-11-30T09:28:42","date_gmt":"2018-11-30T16:28:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=340095"},"modified":"2018-11-30T09:36:36","modified_gmt":"2018-11-30T16:36:36","slug":"greensboro-north-carolina-in-running-for-2025-or-2027-fina-world-championships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/greensboro-north-carolina-in-running-for-2025-or-2027-fina-world-championships\/","title":{"rendered":"Greensboro, North Carolina In Running For 2025 or 2027 FINA World Championships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FINA has the pleasure to announce that seven National Federations\/Cities have shown their interest in staging the 2025 or 2027 edition of the FINA World Championships and FINA World Masters Championships.<\/p>\n<p>At the deadline of November 26, 2018 interest has been received from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AUSTRALIA, Melbourne<\/li>\n<li>CHINA, city to be confirmed<\/li>\n<li>HUNGARY, Budapest<\/li>\n<li>RUSSIA, Kazan<\/li>\n<li>SERBIA, Belgrade<\/li>\n<li>UKRAINE, city to be confirmed<\/li>\n<li>USA, Greensboro, North Carolina<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(The Greensboro Aquatic Center would not be large enough to host the World Championships, so it is likely that the meet would move a few feet away to the Greensboro Coliseum).<\/p>\n<p>(Melbourne (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2007-fina-world-championships\">2007<\/a>), Kazan (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2015-fina-world-championships\">2015<\/a>) and Budapest (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/meet\/2017-fina-world-championships\">2017<\/a>) have all hosted the World Aquatics Championships in the past).<\/p>\n<p>After this initial step, a meeting will be held in Lausanne (SUI) between these candidates and FINA on January 25, 2019 so that they can receive all the necessary documents and information concerning their bidding process.<\/p>\n<p>On their return home, the potential candidates will decide if a formal bid could be presented to FINA.
