CLEVELAND, Feb. 3. THE Case Western Reserve University men's and women's swim teams swept Wittenberg University on Saturday in dual meets held at the CWRU Natatorium in the Veale Center. <\/p>\n
The CWRU men (3-4) won 142 to 69, while the women (5-2) won 155-84.<\/p>\n
The Spartan men were led by multiple event winner senior Jon Gellin (Buffalo NY) who won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:59.9 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:50.28. <\/p>\n
CWRU also won the 200-yard medley relay with a mark of
\n1:40.47. Members of that squad included senior Matt Anderson (Fishers IN), sophomore Andrew Detwiler (Ft. Atkinson WI), senior Mike Iacchei (Bel Air MD), and freshman Kevin Day (Cuyahoga Falls OH). <\/p>\n
Matt Anderson also had an individual win in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.24. Also Nate Davis (Broadview Heights OH) broke a freshman school
\nrecord in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the event with a mark of 48.50. <\/p>\n
The CWRU women were led by multiple event winner freshman Elaine Hillemeyer (Carmel IN), who won the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 25.57 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.87. Hillemeyer was also a member of the women\u2019s 200-yard freestyle relay team that won with a mark of 1:41.43. The other
\nthree members were senior Veronica Luri (Brecksville OH), senior Kelly Alexander (Huntsville AL), and sophomore Kristen Prijatel (Mentor OH). <\/p>\n
Alexander and Luri also posted individual wins. Luri won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.72 and Alexander placed first in the 500-yard freestyle with a NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut of 5:09.63. Sophomore Alicia Kendig (Lancaster PA) also recorded a NCAA \u201cB\u201d cut in the 200-yard freestyle finishing first with a time of 1:55.56. <\/p>\n
The Spartans are in action next at the University Athletic Association Championships at Emory
