The 2018 University of Texas men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are hosting their annual invitational this week with several of the nation’s top teams in attendance.<\/p>\n

In past years this competition has seen an abundance of nation-leading swims, meet records and nail-bitting races. This year’s edition of the meet won’t be short of the same.<\/p>\n

According the psych sheets<\/a>, the Texas Longhorns are slated for an impressive showing, especially on the women’s side, where in events like the 50 free, 100 free, 500 free and the 200 breast, they hold the six of the top eight seeds. As you scroll deeper down the seedings, both Texas occupy most of the ranks in the B and C finals as well.<\/p>\n

The other teams in attendance like Southern California, Harvard, Wisconsin and Arizona also have top contenders in the game.<\/p>\n

Headlining the meet for Texas will be Joanna Evans<\/strong>, Evie Pfeifer<\/strong>, Quinn Carrozza<\/strong> and Remedy Rule<\/strong> for the women and Ryan Harty<\/strong>, Austin Katz<\/strong>, Tate Jackson<\/strong> and John Shebat\u00a0<\/strong>for the men.<\/p>\n

Stanford will lean on NCAA Champion Abrahm DeVine<\/strong>, who will look to win both the 200 and 400 IM this weekend, as he holds the top entry time in both those races. The Stanford men will need Grant Shoults<\/strong>, True Sweetser<\/strong> and Matthew Hirschberger<\/strong> to be in prime condition in the freestyle events, to score much needed points against in-state rival USC.<\/p>\n

The Trojan men bring breaststroke powerhouse Carsten Vissering<\/strong>, who could be a key player for USC, if he can perform in his signature 100 breast, while also playing key roles on the Trojan medley relays.<\/p>\n

The Wisconsin women will bring Michael Milinovich<\/strong> (200 and 400 IM) and Grace Tierney<\/strong> (500 and 1650 free) to the table, who should each score significant points for the Badgers.<\/p>\n

Harvard should have some significant players this week with Dean Farris<\/strong>, Raphael Marcoux<\/strong> and Daniel<\/strong> Chang<\/strong> for the men and Miki Dahlke<\/strong>, Matti Harrison<\/strong>, Jaycee Yegher<\/strong> and Meagan Popp<\/strong> for the women.<\/p>\n
