TUCSON, Ariz.- The University of Texas No. 2 women's and No. 3 men's
\n swimming and diving teams both stand in first place following day one
\n of triangular meet competition against Arizona and Arizona State,
\n respectively, at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in Tucson, Ariz. The
\n Texas women lead No. 3 Arizona (66-44) and No. 7 Arizona State
\n (87-23), while the Longhorn men are ahead of No. 9 Arizona (52-39)
\n and No. 5 Arizona State (68-42). <\/p>\n
The Longhorn women won all six events of the day, with junior
\n Joscelyn Yeo (Republic of Singapore) leading the way with two
\n individual wins and teaming on a relay victory. Yeo grabbed
\n individual top honors in the 200 IM (2:02.00) and the 50 freestyle
\n (23.19). <\/p>\n
The team of freshman Sarah Wanazek (Brookfield, Wis.), junior Tanica
\n Jamison (Dublin, Calif.), senior Lauren Martin (Houston, Texas) and
\n junior Erin Phenix (Cincinnati, Ohio) got UT on the board early in
\n the first event of the day by winning the 200 free relay (1:33.49).
\n Senior Lauren Thies (Bend, Ore.) followed by timing first in the 500
\n free (4:52.96). The Horns wrapped up swimming competition for the
\n day by gathering yet another top finish, with senior Bethany Lindberg
\n (Woodbridge, Va.), Yeo, Jamison and Phenix winning the 400 medley
\n relay in 3:47.51. <\/p>\n
In diving, sophomore Ally Hartzell (Austin, Texas) added to the UT
\n lead by giving a top performance on the one-meter springboard with a
\n score of 272.50. <\/p>\n
The UT men were led by senior Tommy Hannan (Baltimore, Md.) and Chris
\n Kemp (Southlake, Texas), both who picked up individual event
\n victories. Kemp took charge for the Horns during the second event of
\n the day, placing winning the 500-yard freestyle in 4:29.48. Hannan
\n captured top honors in the 200 IM, timing an NCAA "B" consideration
\n time of 1:49.96. Texas continued to roll in the 400 medley relay,
\n with the quartet of Hannan, sophomore Brendan Hansen (Havertown,
\n Pa.), Ian Crocker (Portland, Maine) and Kemp taking first in an NCAA
\n "B" cut time of 3:16.62. <\/p>\n
Senior Troy Dumais (Ventura, Calif.) continued his dominance on the
\n springboard, capturing first on the three-meter with a score of
\n 637.15. The win improves Dumais' record on the three-meter board to
\n a perfect 6-0 this season. <\/p>\n
Men's and women's action between Texas, Arizona and Arizona State
\n continue on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center in
\n Tucson. The second session will begin at 10 a.m. (CST), followed by
