The 2018 Massachusetts DII Swimming and Diving Championships took place on Nov. 18 at Harvard University in Boston, Mass.<\/p>\n
The girls of Reading Memorial High School won seven events to clinch the state title with a final score of 402.5 ahead of Wellesley (307.5) and Ursuline Academy (235).\u00a0Walpole swam away with the title on the boys’ side with 100 points.<\/p>\n

The meet began as Reading’s\u00a0Molly Hamlin<\/strong>,\u00a0Anna Roberts<\/strong>,\u00a0Samantha Brabeck<\/b> and\u00a0Alana Loughman\u00a0<\/strong>won the opening 4×50 medley relay in 1:47.88, about four seconds faster than runner-up\u00a0Wellesley\u00a0(1:51.91).<\/p>\n Shortly after leading off Reading’s winning relay, Hamlin was back at it to claim the 200 free title as her own in 1:52.36 – six seconds faster than the rest of the field. She was also victorious in the 100 free with a final time of 52.35.<\/p>\n Two seniors found themselves on the top of the podium in the 200 IM: Roberts and Marshfield\u00a0Olivia Mozoki\u00a0<\/strong>both stopped the clock in 2:09.15 to share the title. Mozoki got the 100 fly gold all to herself after getting her hands to the wall first in 58.29.<\/p>\n Belmont’s\u00a0Sophie Butte\u00a0<\/strong>sprinted to first in the 50 free in a time of 24.89, less than a tenth ahead of runner-up\u00a0Nellie Thompson\u00a0<\/strong>(24.68) of Wellesley. The 100 breast title went to Roberts, who bested the field by two seconds in 1:05.31.<\/p>\n Central Catholic’s\u00a0Kerrigan Hemp\u00a0<\/strong>dropped over 16 seconds from her entry time to dominate the 500 free, winning by six seconds in 5:07.52. She also grabbed the gold in the 100 back after powering home in 57.03.<\/p>\n Reading got another victory in the 4×50 free relay as\u00a0Kayla Loughman<\/strong>, Roberts,\u00a0Maura\u00a0<\/strong>Letendre<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0Alana Loughman\u00a0<\/strong>combined to win in 1:38.09. Barbecue, Letendre, K. Loughman and Hamlin concluded the meet as 4×100 free champions in 3:38.16.<\/p>\n 1. Walpole – 100 Walpole’s\u00a0Casey Laliberte<\/strong>,\u00a0Matthew Ferraro<\/strong>,\u00a0Michael Rose\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Matthew Samargedlis\u00a0<\/strong>won the 4×50 medley relay in 1:56.56 ahead of Billerica’s 2:01.78. Ferraro, Laliberte and Rose teamed up with\u00a0Andrew Hendricks\u00a0<\/strong>to win the 4×100 free relay in 3:47.77.\u00a0Rose then went on to win the 50 free in 23.80.<\/p>\n Milton’s Jo<\/strong>e Pezzini\u00a0<\/strong>was named 200 IM champion after leading the charge in 2:05.02 and his teammate\u00a0Andrew Tran\u00a0<\/strong>took first in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.48.
