This year\u2019s Summit will take place over Labor Day Weekend (August 30-September 2, 2019) in Atlanta. LEAD attendees will have the opportunity to listen to keynotes from Olympians and expert speakers, participate in new, in-depth breakout sessions alongside their mentors and peers, and engage in leadership exercises and team-building activities that will help shape them as leaders in and out of the pool.<\/p>\n<p>Two-time Paralympian <strong>McKenzie Coan<\/strong> and 2016 Olympic gold medalist <strong>Maya DiRado<\/strong> have been announced as speakers for the event. The full roster of speakers, expert mentors, and Team Leaders will be revealed in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a dream come true to see LEAD grow over the past two years,\u201d said founder <strong>Kara Lynn Joyce<\/strong>, a 3-time Olympian and 4-time Olympic medalist. \u201cThis year, we want to double down on our mission to create an environment where girls can gain confidence and leadership skills and develop strong connections with other future leaders and strong female mentors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=k334Fe1FiCg\"><span style=\"color: #1155cc;\"><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman, serif;\"><u>Check out this behind-the-scenes video for a look inside the 2018 LEAD Summit.<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>LEAD will also host the first annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leadsportssummit.com\/blog\/2018\/11\/1\/lead-announces-parent-track-for-2019-summit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Parent Track<\/a>, which will take place on Sunday, September 1 during the Summit. This new program will provide a day of keynotes and breakout sessions designed especially for swim parents, including topics such as confidence, nutrition, sports psychology, and more. Throughout the weekend, LEAD Mentors and Speakers work with participants during group talks, team-building activities, workshops, and small-group, age-specific breakout sessions. Three-time Olympian Kara Lynn Joyce founded LEAD (Leadership, Empowerment, and Athletic Development) as an opportunity for girls to learn leadership skills from strong, accomplished female mentors.
