He placed 12th in the 200m back at Rochester Futures this summer and was the 100 back runner-up at the Iowa LCM Championships. He recorded a pair of best times and had three seconds swims at the Midwest Challenge last winter.\u00a0Also representing Valley High School, Porter\u00a0placed third in the 100 back and eighth in the 200 free during his junior season at the Iowa State Championships.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>&#8220;I chose Missouri State because I was impressed with the coaching staff, and the team made me feel at home. The campus was great and the focus on academics gave me belief that I would be well prepared for life after college. I&#8217;m looking forward to joining a tradition of swimming and academic excellence. Bear Up!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 back &#8211; 50.95<\/li>\n<li>200 back &#8211; 1:49.86<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:43.18<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:37.54<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When he suits up for the Bears as a member of the class of 2023, Porter will join a talented backstroke group that includes\u00a0<strong>Thomas Heye\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Jake Schultz<\/strong>.
