The preliminary session featured twelve events, where <strong>Michael Andrew<\/strong> and<strong> Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> each earned two top seeds for the first night of finals.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.omegatiming.com\/Competition?id=000112010BFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF&amp;sport=AQ&amp;year=2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Women\u2019s 400 Freestyle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Femke Heemskerk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Netherlands kept her World Cup success rolling by cruising to the top seed in the 400 Freestyle. Her time of 4:08.62 easily won the prelim over Germany\u2019s <\/span><b>Reva Foos<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4:10.03) and Hungary\u2019s <\/span><b>Boglarka Kapas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4:10.17). With a season best of 4:00.03, Heemkerk should win the event at finals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She will be joined by <\/span><b>Madison Wilson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4:10.90), <\/span><b>Olivia Adams<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4:13.91), <\/span><b>Nam Wai Ho <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:13.94), <\/span><b>Szu-An Chen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (4:16.57) and <\/span><b>Vitalina Simonova <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(4:17.79).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 400 Freestyle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Australia\u2019s <\/span><b>Mack Horton<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will find himself in a similar position, as his season best of 3:39.52 is the best in the field. His morning swim of 3:45.83 gave him the top seed over USA\u2019s<\/span><b> Blake Pieroni <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(3:48.91) and pair of teammates <\/span><b>Bowen Gough<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (3:49.35) and <\/span><b>Jared Gilliland <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(3:49.87). <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They will be joined in the final by <\/span><b>Velimir Stjepanovic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (3:50.10), <\/span><b>David Verraszto <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(3:50.41), <\/span><b>Kushagra Rawat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (3:52.18) and<\/span><b> Guo-Ting Huang <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(3:52.26).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Women\u2019s 100 IM<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The same cannot be said for the women\u2019s 100 IM, where a number of swimmers could come out with the win. <\/span><b>Katinka Hosszu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> led the preliminaries in 57.18, about half a second off her World Record. <\/span><b>Sarah Sjostrom<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was next in 58.10 with <\/span><b>Emily Seebohm<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (59.13), <\/span><b>Siobhan O\u2019Connor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (59.46) and <\/span><b>Alia Atkinson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (59.66) not far behind. <\/span><b>Tayla Lovemore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1:00.55), <\/span><b>Yulia Efimova<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1:00.67) and <\/span><b>Franziska Weidner <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:00.69) will round out the final.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 100 IM<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The USA\u2019s <\/span><b>Michael Andrew<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was right on his season best to win the men\u2019s race in 51.74. <\/span><b>Kenneth To<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.08) and <\/span><b>Vlad Morozov<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.12), the current World Record in this event, will give him a challenge in the final. Also in the mix will be <\/span><b>Wang Shun<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.70), <\/span><b>Mitchell Larkin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (52.90), <\/span><b>Hiromasa Fujimori <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(53.19), <\/span><b>Keita Sunama<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (53.48) and <\/span><b>Matthew Wilson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (53.61). <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Women\u2019s 50 Backstroke<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Kira Toussaint <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">led a tight battle for the top eight in the women\u2019s 50 Backstroke. Her swim of 26.44 came in just ahead of Seebohm (26.70), <\/span><b>Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (26.75) and<\/span><b> Minna Atherton<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (26.82). Of the competitors, Seebohm holds the quickest time so far this season in 26.05. <\/span><b>Madison Wilson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (27.36), <\/span><b>Toto Kwan To Wong<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (27.40), <\/span><b>Zoe Williams<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (28.11) and <\/span><b>Yaxin Liu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (28.16) placed fifth through eighth to advance to the final. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 200 Backstroke<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Larkin was quickly back in the pool to hit the wall first in the 200 Backstroke prelims. He led the way in 1:52.02 ahead of <\/span><b>Omar Pinzon Garcia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1:52.71) and <\/span><b>Yakov Yan Toumarkin <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:53.46). Australia then had the next three qualifiers in Tristan Hollard (1:53.65), <\/span><b>Travis Mahoney<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1:54.19) and <\/span><b>Bradley Woodward<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1:54.22). Sunama (1:54.23) and <\/span><b>Xu Jiayu <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(1:55.25) will also race in the heat. Jiayu holds the top time in the world this year (1:48.32) while Larkin holds the World Record in 1:45.63 from 2015. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Women\u2019s 200 Butterfly<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosszu cruised in at 2:08.07 for the top spot in the 200 Butterfly. <\/span><b>Zhang Yufei <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be a challenger after posting a 2:10.44 and the second-fastest swim in the world this year in Eindhoven. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Alexandra Wenk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> led a close race for the remaining spots in 2:11.01. She was followed by <\/span><b>Gemma Cooney<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:11.07), <\/span><b>Lin Xintong<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:11.55), <\/span><b>Boglarka Kapas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:12.32), <\/span><b>Hang Yu Sze <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2:12.80) and <\/span><b>Kin Lok Chan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:13.02).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 100 Butterfly<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China\u2019s <\/span><b>Li Zhuhao<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (50.61) and Singapore\u2019s <\/span><b>Joseph Schooling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (50.97) posted the seventh- and fourteenth-best times so far this year in the 100 Butterfly. The swim for Schooling was just off the country\u2019s National Record in this event. <\/span><b>Yauhen Tsurkin<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (51.42), <\/span><b>Matthew Temple<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (51.51), <\/span><b>Masayuki Umemoto <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(51.66), <\/span><b>Sajan Prakash<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (51.73), <\/span><b>Jan Eric Friese<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (51.92) and <\/span><b>Kuan-Hung Wang<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (51.98) will also race in the final. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Women\u2019s 200 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Ye Shiwen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> led the women\u2019s breaststroke prelim this time around in 2:23.57. Russian pair <\/span><b>Vitalina Simonova<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Efimova were next in 2:24.96 and 2:27.05, respectively with Atkinson fourth in 2:28.69. <\/span><b>Christie May Chue<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:30.25), <\/span><b>Hoi Kiu Lam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:31.17), <\/span><b>Yu-Chen Wu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:31.67) and <\/span><b>Jing-An Chen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:31.74) placed fifth through eighth. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 100 Breaststroke<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><b>Ilya Shymanovich<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was first in a close race in the men\u2019s breaststroke coming in at 57.13. <\/span><b>Anton Chupkov<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was second in 57.66 with Wilson third (57.81) and <\/span><b>Yan Zibei <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(57.87) fourth. Joining them in the final will be <\/span><b>Arno Kamminga<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (58.16), Fujimori (58.34),<\/span><b> Zac Stubblety-Cook<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (58.36) and<\/span><b> Peter Stevens<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (58.56). Of these men, Zibei holds the quickest time so far this season in 56.96.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Women\u2019s 50 Freestyle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was a routine women\u2019s 50 Freestyle prelim with Sjostrom (23.48), Heemskerk (23.81), Kromowidjojo (24.09) and <\/span><b>Pernille Blume<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (24.17) making up the top four. They will be joined by <\/span><b>Zhu Menghui <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(24.20), Toussaint (24.45), <\/span><b>Liliana Ibanez Lopez<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (24.74) and Yufei (24.96).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Men\u2019s 50 Freestyle<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Andrew came away with another top seed, this time in 21.15 in the 50 Freestyle. Morozov was a close second in 21.25 with <strong>Kyle Chalmers<\/strong> (21.40) and Pieroni (21.62) in the hunt for the podium as well.
