The Wolverines won a tight team race with 272 points; not too far behind were Lakeside (Seattle) with 259 points and Lake Washington with a score of 255.<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2018-washington-girls-3a-final-results\/high-school\/2018\/November\/10?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fhigh-school%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for full results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Top 5 Team Scores:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Bellevue &#8211; 272<br \/>\n2. Lakeside (Seattle) &#8211; 259<br \/>\n3. Lake Washington &#8211; 255<br \/>\n4. Bainbridge Island &#8211; 170<br \/>\n5. Mercer Island &#8211; 163<\/p>\n<p>The meet began in an exciting start as Bellevue&#8217;s Rudolph,\u00a0<strong>Rylee Siripipat<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rachel Jin\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Maria-Elena Acevedo\u00a0<\/strong>combined to win a close 4&#215;50 medley relay in 1:46.53. Lakeside (Seattle) swam to second in 1:46.59 while Lake Washington finished third in 1:46.76.<\/p>\n<p>Bellevue&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Aneta Wyzaga\u00a0<\/strong>led the charge in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:49.67 for the win. Lakeside (Seattle)&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Nathalie Valdman\u00a0<\/strong>was also under the 1:50 mark, touching the wall second in 1:49.82. Roosevelt&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Elke Ambach\u00a0<\/strong>wound up third in 1:53.59.<\/p>\n<p>Siripipat<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>used a strong first-half to guide herself to the wall first in the 200 IM with a winning time of 2:06.54. Her teammate\u00a0Jin wasn&#8217;t too far behind in 2:06.68 for second as Holy Names Academy&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Allyson Yao\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close third in 2:06.72.<\/p>\n<p>Rudolph<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 free by nearly over a full second to defend her title, splashing and dashing her way to a State title in a quick 22.85. Bishop Blancet&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Ella Haskins\u00a0<\/strong>powered home to 23.99 for second and Lake Washington&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Amelia Hammer\u00a0<\/strong>ended up third in 24.06. Rudolph&#8217;s time broke a decade-old State record of 22.92 by\u00a0<strong>Leona Jennings\u00a0<\/strong>back in 2008.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kayla Kersavage\u00a0<\/strong>of Snohomish dove to first on the 1-meter board for the second-straight year with a final score of 423.15. Squalicum&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Helene Synnott\u00a0<\/strong>took second with 404.00 points while Mercer Island&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sophia McGuffin\u00a0<\/strong>posted a score of 383.55 for third place.<\/p>\n<p>Bainbridge Island freshman\u00a0<strong>Margaret Hayes<\/strong> grabbed an individual win in the 100 fly by almost two seconds with a time of 55.04. She held off Garfield&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Valerie Berreto<\/strong>\u00a0who tool second in a 56.83 while Roosevelt&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Kate Leary\u00a0<\/strong>flew to third in 57.11.<\/p>\n<p>After taking third in the 200 free, Ambach finally got the gold medal in the 100 free where she cruised home to a swift 51.87. Hammer was the runner-up in a very close 51.93 for silver and Haskins earned the bronze in 52.40.<\/p>\n<p>Valdman<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 500 free, winning by five seconds with a final time of 4:54.80. Second place went to Wyzga in 4:59.56 as the only other swimmer under the five-minute mark and third place belonged to Mercer Island&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Cayla Prophater<\/strong>\u00a0in 5:02.76.<\/p>\n<p>Bainbridge Island got the victory in the 4&#215;50 free relay as the quartet of\u00a0<strong>Xaveria Rodriquez<\/strong>, <b>Hannah Lee<\/b>,\u00a0<strong>Hannah\u00a0<\/strong><b>Tonsmann<\/b>\u00a0and Hayes posted a narrow victory in 1:36.73. Lakeside (Seattle) took second in 1:36.91 while Bellevue rounded out the top three in 1:38.10.<\/p>\n<p>Rudolph<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>led the way in the 100 back, earning the State accolade for the second year in a row in a fast 53.73 to grab her second individual gold by three seconds. Lakeside&#8217;s <strong>Isabel Chien<\/strong> (56.36) and\u00a0Leary\u00a0(56.55) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Stanwood&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jetlynn Hau<\/strong>\u00a0got her hands to the wall first ahead of the rest of the field in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.97. Lakeside&#8217;s <strong>Allison Su<\/strong>\u00a0raced to second in 1:04.33 while Snohomish&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Mieko Schwartzmiller\u00a0<\/strong>took the third-place spot with a time of 1:05.98.<\/p>\n<p>The meet concluded as the Bellevue 4&#215;100 free relay squad of Rudolph, Jin,\u00a0<strong>Delora Li\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Wyzga won in 3:27.50 to secure their team title in meet record-setting fashion, over four seconds faster than runner-up Lakeside (Seattle)&#8217;s 3:31.64 followed by Lake Washington&#8217;s 3:32.71.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2018 Washington Girls 3A State Swimming &amp; Diving Championships took place on Nov. 10 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
