The 2018 Washington Girls 2A State Swimming & Diving Championships took place on Nov. 10 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.<\/p>\n

North Kitsap junior\u00a0Eleanor Beers\u00a0<\/strong>broke a pair of meet records to guide her team to their first State title in program history en route to being named Swimmer of the Meet for the third-straight year.\u00a0Last year’s champions, Liberty (Renton), finished second with 230 points followed by Sammamish who took third with a score of 226.<\/p>\n

The meet began as Aberdeen’s\u00a0Kayla Sias<\/strong>,\u00a0Anna Weber<\/strong>,\u00a0Annika Eisele\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Katekynn Lewis\u00a0<\/strong>combined to win the 4×50 medley relay in 1:49.31. North Kitsap swam to second in 1:50.10 while Sehome finished third in 1:53.04.<\/p>\n

North Kitsap’s\u00a0Brianna Hoffman\u00a0<\/strong>led the charge in the 200 free, stopping the clock in 1:56.64 for the win. Liberty (Renton)’s\u00a0Reegan Weber\u00a0<\/strong>was also under the two-minute mark, touching the wall second in 1:57.74. Ellensburg’s\u00a0Molly Gage\u00a0<\/strong>wound up third in 2:00.33.<\/p>\n

Olympic’s\u00a0Chloe\u00a0Partsch\u00a0<\/strong>used a strong first-half to guide herself to the wall first in the 200 IM with a winning time of 2:11.39. Kingston’s\u00a0Claudia Velie\u00a0<\/strong>wasn’t too far behind in 2:11.95 for second as La Center’s\u00a0Bryanna Ungs\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 2:12.32.<\/p>\n

North Kitsap’s\u00a0Eleanor Beers\u00a0<\/strong>won the 50 free by nearly a full second, splashing and dashing her way to defend her State title in a quick 23.17. La Center’s\u00a0Hailey Grotte\u00a0<\/strong>powered home to 24.07 for second and Sammamish’s\u00a0Katie Walz\u00a0<\/strong>ended up third in 24.19. Beers’ time broke a decade-old meet record set by\u00a0Natalee Ruiz\u00a0<\/strong>back in 2008.<\/p>\n

Beers’ second individual gold medal of the night came in the 100 free, where she cruised home to a swift 50.75 to match her 50 free title in another title defense. Grotte again was the runner-up in 52.59 for silver and Walz earned another bronze in 53.66. Beers broke her own meet record she set in 2016.<\/p>\n

Taylor Bloedorn\u00a0<\/strong>of Fife dove to first on the 1-meter board with a final score of 323.20. Bellingham’s\u00a0Makenna Pittman\u00a0<\/strong>took second with 310.60 points while Liberty (Renton)’s\u00a0Eleanor Brecht\u00a0<\/strong>posted a score of 308.45 for third place.<\/p>\n

Not too long after helping her team to relay victory, Eisele was back in the water to grab an individual win in the 100 fly with a time of 57.13. She held off a strong Bartsch who tool second in a close 57.28 while Sammamish’s\u00a0Jillian Weber\u00a0<\/strong>flew to third in 59.80 as the only swimmers under the one-minute barrier.<\/p>\n

Liberty (Renton)’s\u00a0Alexa Hoeper\u00a0<\/strong>dominated the 500 free, winning by just over ten seconds with a final time of 5:09.09. Second place went to Hoffman in 5:19.12 and third place belonged to Black Hills’\u00a0Emma Prybyiski<\/strong>\u00a0in 5:25.25.<\/p>\n

Another North Kitsap\u00a0victory came in the 4×50 free relay as the quartet of\u00a0Izy Iral<\/strong>,\u00a0Layna Hart<\/strong>, Hoffman and Beers posted a three-second victory in 1:40.50. Aberdeen took second in 1:43.05 while Liberty rounded out the top three in 1:43.72.<\/p>\n

North Kitsap’s\u00a0Isabel Hendryx\u00a0<\/strong>led the way in the 100 back, earning the State accolade in 58.30.\u00a0Two other swimmer also cracked the minute-mark: Hoeper (58.88) and Eisele (59.85) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n

A. Weber got her hands to the wall first a full second ahead of the rest of the field in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.85. Ungs raced to second in 1:05.87 while Sehome’s\u00a0Grace Kim\u00a0<\/strong>took the third-place spot with a time of 1:06.31.<\/p>\n

The meet concluded as the Sammamish 4×100 free relay squad of Walz, J. Weber,\u00a0Kona Kao\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Kayla Chenier\u00a0<\/strong>won in 3:40.88, almost four seconds faster than runner-up Liberty’s 3:44.55 followed by Olympic’s 3:46.06.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
