After the Class 2 meet<\/a> yesterday, the Missouri Boys Class 1 State Swimming and Diving Championships took place on Nov. 10\u00a0at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.<\/p>\n

Central Cape Girardeau won their third-straight team title with a total of 225 points ahead of Glendale (209) and Parkway West (185).\u00a0The Tigers also set all\u00a0four Class 2 records that were broken at this meet, including a pair from\u00a0junior\u00a0Daniel Seabaugh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The meet began with an exciting and close 4×50 medley relay as Kearney’s\u00a0Vaughn Sloan<\/strong>,\u00a0Tyler Godsey<\/strong>,\u00a0Carter White<\/strong> and\u00a0Evan Holt\u00a0<\/strong>won in 1:38.44 to hold off a charging Parkway West (1:38.64). Central Cape Girardeau took a close third in 1:38.67.<\/p>\n

Seabaugh swam to the top of the podium in the 200 free, dropping over six seconds from his morning swim to win in 1:39.14 en route to setting a new Class 2 record. Holt also snuck under the 1:40 mark in 1:39.53 for second as Oak Park’s\u00a0Jonathan Hill\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed third in 1:41.33.<\/p>\n

It was a two-man race in the 500 free as Seabaugh then went on to win in 4:29.83 in yet another Class 2 mark. He edged\u00a0out Holt, who raced to second in 4:29.88, by five-hundredths. Parkway West’s\u00a0Josh Ransin\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 4:42.62.<\/p>\n

The 200 IM went to Battle’s\u00a0AJ Huskey<\/strong> who bested the field by five seconds to grab the State title in an impressive 1:49.64 as the only swimmer under the 1:50 mark. Oak Park’s\u00a0Robbie Hill\u00a0<\/strong>swam to second in 1:54.01 and Parkway Central’s\u00a0Hayden Christiansen\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 1:57.76.<\/p>\n

Huskey won his second individual event of the meet by stopping the clock in 50.46 for the 100 fly victory. Smithville’s\u00a0Nathan Noll\u00a0<\/strong>wasn’t too far behind in 50.72 for second as Hill finished third in 51.06.<\/p>\n

Nevada’s\u00a0Ben Hines\u00a0<\/strong>splashed and dashed his way to the gold in the 50 free with a quick time of 20.74. Silver went to Glendale’s\u00a0Sam Beatty\u00a0<\/strong>and Central Cape Girardeau’s\u00a0Hyrum Dickson\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed bronze in 21.44.<\/p>\n

Not too long after, Hines was back in the water to power home to a 100 free win in a swift 46.19. Central Cape Girardeau Jacob Bening\u00a0<\/strong>(46.46) was second and J. Hill (46.67) was third.<\/p>\n

Central Cape Girardeau Dickson,\u00a0Truman Vines<\/strong>, Bening and Seabaugh posted a three-second 4×50 free relay victory with a time of 1:26.73 ahead of runner-up Glendale (1:29.11), Chaminade relay squad was close behind for a third-place showing in 1:29.19. Central’s time was faster than the previous Class 2 record.<\/p>\n

Soon after helping his relay to a State title, Bening found himself on top of the podium in the 100 back with a time of 50.89 to etch his name in the Class 2 record book. Parkway West’s\u00a0Christopher Frederick\u00a0<\/strong>powered home to second in 52.12 as Christiansen took third in 53.34.<\/p>\n

Godsey led the charge of three swimmers under the 59-second mark in the 100 breast, getting his hands to the wall first in 58.06. Second went to\u00a0Matthew States\u00a0<\/strong>(58.36) of Lutheran St. Charles and third went to\u00a0Brayden Cole\u00a0<\/strong>(58.64) of Carthage.<\/p>\n

Glendale’s\u00a0Cole Earl\u00a0<\/strong>dove to the top spot on the 1-meter board, posting a score of 533.50 for the win. Second went to Parkway West’s\u00a0Brayden Escher<\/strong> with a score of 455.05 and Park Hill South’s\u00a0Greyson Langer\u00a0<\/strong>took third with 388.80 points.<\/p>\n

The relay quartet of Vines, Dickson,\u00a0Jack Maxton\u00a0<\/strong>and Bening concluded the meet as victors in the 4×100 free relay for Central Cape Girardeau, combining to post a time of 3:14.53. Parkway West took third in 3:17.18 as Glendale finished third in 3:17.60.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
