There were several Pac-12<\/a> teams in action this weekend.<\/p>\n

USC juniors Carly Souza<\/strong> and Naomi Gowlett<\/strong> finished 1-2 in the women’s 1-meter while Henry Fusaro<\/strong> topped the college divers in the men’s 3-meter to highlight the first day of the Trojan Diving Invitational on Friday (Nov. 9) at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n

Souza won the 1-meter with a combined 551.20 points, including a prelim best 283.10. Gowlett was second with 523.05 points, 260.60 coming in prelims. Senior Madi Witt<\/strong> was fourth for the Trojans with 484.75, 245.90 in prelims.<\/p>\n

Fusaro took the 1-meter with 755.60 points while junior Brad Dalrymple<\/strong> was third overall with 644.35 points.<\/p>\n

Shortly after the diving meet, the USC swimmers faced Fresno Pacific in a dual meet with the Trojan women improving to 4-0, the men to 3-0.<\/p>\n

Among the winners for the Trojans on Friday were Louise Hansson<\/strong> in the 200y free (1:44.23) and the 100y fly (50.40), the latter time just 0.60 off her NCAA-title-winning time from March.<\/p>\n

Freshman Alexei Sancov<\/strong> won both the men’s 100y (43.96) and 200y free (1:35.44), both season best swims. Senior Patrick Mulcare<\/strong> also won both the 100y back (48.91) and the 200y back, the latter race in a rare solo swim (1:40.75), shaving two seconds off his season best.<\/p>\n

The Trojans posted a handful of other season bests, including Caitlin Tycz<\/strong> crushing her season best 200y fly with a 1:54.89, Kyle Grissom<\/strong>‘s 19.83 in the 50y free, Alex Valente<\/strong>‘s 1:46.23 in the 200y fly and breaststroke specialist Riley Scott<\/strong> lowering her PR in the 500y free from high school to 4:54.45.<\/p>\n

Washington State falls to Wyoming<\/h3>\n

The Washington State swim team had an outstanding performance against the University of Wyoming, but fell to the Cowgirls 140-122. The Cougars posted seven victories including 11 season-best times.<\/p>\n

Freshman Keiana Fountaine<\/strong> continued to be a force in the pool, earning two individual wins and swimming anchor in the first place 200 free relay team. Alongside teammates Emily Barrier, Paige Gardner <\/strong>and Chloe Larson<\/strong>, the team swam the fastest time in the event this season, with Fountaine touching the wall in 1:35.49, less than two tenths ahead of Wyoming’s A-relay team. Fountaine also etched her name in the WSU All-Time Top-10, clocking in a season-best 1:49.27 in the 200 free, seventh-fastest in program history. The Tracy, Calif., native also clocked a season-best 58.73 in the 100 fly for fifth place.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Taylor McCoy<\/strong> had a strong showing for the Cougars, winning the 200 back and 200 IM. The Pullman, Wash., native hit season-best times in both events, touching the wall in 2:01.58 and 2:05.44, respectively. McCoy also swam a season-best 58.05 in the 100 back for fourth place, and swam the opening leg for the second place 200 medley relay team.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Mackenzie Duarte<\/strong>, junior Ryan Falk<\/strong>, and senior Linnea Lindberg<\/strong> each notched a win in their respective events. Duarte dominated in the 200 breast, hitting a season-best 2:17.23 – nearly six seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Duarte also saw a second place finish in the 100 breast and 200 IM. Falk took away a win in the 500 free, clocking a season-best 5:03.28. The Portland, Ore. native swam to a second place finish in the 1000 free and fifth in the 200 fly. Lindberg notched first in the 100 breast, touching the wall in 1:04.22 \u2014 her fastest time this season. The Stockholm, Sweden native was also a member of the second place 200 medley relay team.<\/p>\n

UCLA meet postponed<\/h3>\n

The UCLA swim team’s scheduled meet against UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego on Saturday morning was postponed due to poor air quality in the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
