NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Cal has earned their second verbal commitment for the fall of 2020, this time from high school junior and Dresher, Penn. native\u00a0Matthew Jensen\u00a0<\/strong>who\u00a0will join\u00a0Forrest Frazier<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as a member of the class of 2024.<\/p>\n

Jensen’s older brother,\u00a0Michael Jensen<\/strong>, is a current junior for the Bears. Their mother’s godfather,\u00a0Roger Olsen<\/strong>, won the high jump NCAA title in 1962 while also playing basketball for Cal.<\/p>\n

Jensen does his club swimming with the Upper Dublin Aquatic Club and is a three-time U.S. Open qualifier with Junior standards in two additional events. He achieved 100% best times at NCSAs this summer with his highest finish being a fifth-place showing in the 100m fly. He recorded five lifetime bests at Juniors East last winter and had seven finals appearances at Mid-Atlantic Seniors in March.<\/p>\n

Jensen, who recently attended USA Swimming’s National Select Camp in October, also competes for Upper Dublin High School.\u00a0He placed fifth in the 100 breast and seventh in the 100 fly at the Pennsylvania 3A State Championships during his sophomore season after placing 11th in both the 100 fly and 200 IM as a freshman.<\/p>\n
