NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Bellevue, Wash. native\u00a0Yulia Groysman\u00a0<\/strong>has elected to attend Northwestern University next fall after recently giving them a verbal commitment.<\/p>\n

Groysman swims year-round with the\u00a0Seattle Metropolitan Aquatic Club and owns eight Winter Juniors (or faster) cuts, including a U.S. Open standard in the 400m free. She concluded an incredibly successful long course season with a ninth-place finish in the 800m free and a 16th-place showing in the 400m free at Junior Nationals after winning the 400m IM at Pacific Northwest Seniors. She placed 15th in the 500 free at Juniors West last winter and was the runner-up in that event at Federal Way Speedo Sectionals in March.<\/p>\n

Also swimming for Newport High School, Groysman is an eight-time Washington 4A State Championship finalist.\u00a0The NISCA All-American won the 200 free and was the runner-up in the 500 free as a junior after placing second in those events during both her freshman and sophomore seasons. At the 4A meet this past weekend<\/a>, she helped her 4×100 free relay team set a new State record.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I am beyond excited to be going to an amazing school such as Northwestern! Located near Chicago, not only does it have a breathtaking view and a close-knit campus, but it’s ability to set such high standards makes both athletes and students, go above and beyond to succeed. During my recruiting trip, I felt at home and could easily talk to any teammate on the swim team, whether it be cracking a bad joke or asking about what seniors were planning to do after college. The head coach, Jeremy Kipp, with the help of his assistant coaches, has set a goal that fit right in with mine, and when I heard how they were going to achieve that goal, there was no way I could pass up such an opportunity. It has been a rough and stressful journey but I’m ecstatic with my choice! Thank you friends and family and Go Wildcats!!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
