The Wyoming girls 4A State Swimming & Diving Championships took place on Nov. 1. For the second-straight year, Laramie won the team title and\u00a0senior Olivia McPherson\u00a0<\/strong>was named both Athlete of the Meet and Athlete of the Year after breaking the 4A State record in the 100 free.<\/p>\n

Sheridan’s\u00a0Jadyn Mullikin, Zoe Robison, Taylor Baldacci\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Piper Carroll\u00a0<\/strong>began the meet with a two-second victory in the 4×50 medley relay in 1:47.89. Green River took second in 1:49.96 and Laramie was third in 1:51.93.<\/p>\n

Campbell\u00a0freshman\u00a0Berkely Christensen\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 free by just over a full second in 1:56.11 ahead of her teammate\u00a0Mckenna Hauber\u00a0<\/b>(1:57.40). Laramie’s\u00a0Sage Morton\u00a0<\/strong>also was under the two-minute mark in 1:58.37.\u00a0Christensen then continued her winning ways by claiming the 100 fly title in 57.81. Laramie’s\u00a0Carter Burchi\u00a0<\/strong>also snuck under the minute barrier in 59.62 and Baldacci (1:00.41) took third.<\/p>\n

Hauber found herself on top of the podium in the 500 free, claiming the event in 5:18.24.\u00a0Morton swam a time of 5:22.95 for second place and third went to Green River’s\u00a0Alexa Lauze\u00a0<\/strong>in 5:29.18. Natrona’s\u00a0Gabriella Haigler\u00a0<\/strong>dove to first place on the 1-meter board with a final score of 411.25. Cheyenne Central’s\u00a0Emma Reed\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 350.65 while Laramie’s\u00a0Maddie Appelhans\u00a0<\/strong>was third with a score of 322.00.<\/p>\n

Campbell County’s\u00a0Jenny Holwell\u00a0<\/strong>defended her 4A State title in the 200 IM by stopping the clock in 2:10.35 for the win. Rock Springs’\u00a0Abi Robinson-Kim\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 2:12.98 while Baldacci finished in 2:14.75 for third.\u00a0Holwell also successfully defended her 100 breast title in 1:04.97 ahead of Green River’s\u00a0Hailey\u00a0Unrig\u00a0<\/strong>(1:05.72) and Robison (1:07.80).<\/p>\n

Laramie’s\u00a0O. McPherson won the 50 free for the second-straight year as the only swimmer under the 23-second barrier, splashing-and-dashing her way to the wall in 22.94. Carroll (23.89) and Laramie’s\u00a0Katie McPherson\u00a0<\/strong>(24.59) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n

O. McPherson won her second individual title of the meet in the 100 free, grabbing the gold with a quick 50.15 to break the 4A State record of 50.37 set back in 2014. Carroll again got the silver in 52.56 and Robison earned bronze in 54.62.\u00a0Mullikin (57.90), Robinson-Kim (58.77) and Jensen (59.87) also were under one minute in the 100 back with Mullikin having the upper hand on the competition.<\/p>\n

Laramie’s Burchi, K. McPherson, Catie Weathermon<\/strong> and O. McPherson combined to win the 4×50 free relay in 1:37.04 ahead of Sheridan (1:38.92) and Campbell County (1:40.29). Burchi,\u00a0Tayiah Graves<\/b>,\u00a0Sage Morton\u00a0<\/strong>and O. McPherson gave Laramie a convincing win in the 4×100 free relay (3:35.31) to conclude the meet, besting Campbell County (3:43.08) and Green River (3:43.36).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
