AUSTIN, Texas, February 23. SOUTHLAKE Carroll swept the competition at the Texas 5A Swimming and Diving Championship Feb. 22-23 in Austin. The Lady Dragons collected 235 points to San Antonio Reagan's 189.5, Humble Kingwood's 189, Houston Memorial's 134 and and San Antonio Churchill's 102. The boys were just as dominant, putting together 279 points. Conroe The Woolands (167), followed by Klein (141.5), Klein Oak (114) and Conroe College Park (111).<\/p>\n
Boys<\/b>
\nSouthlake Carroll's Jonathan Roberts set a state record with his 1:36.34 in the 200 free. He also captured first in the 500 free with his 4:20.08, and led off their winning 400 free relay of Grayson Magruder, John Remetta and Jake Tovey (3:04.10). Roberts' teammate Bryce Klein set a state standard in the diving event, scoring a total of 622.05 points. <\/p>\n
The Woodlands finished first in the sprint relays with the quartet of Cannon Clifton, Ryan Sorensen, Dusan Vukobrat and John Sanden. They claimed the 200 medley relay title with their 1:32.41 and finished first in the 200 free relay (1:24.26). Clifton grabbed first in the 100 free (44.58) and Sorensen was tops in the 100 breast (56.31).<\/p>\n
Individual event wins also went to Lewisville Hebron's Joshua Clothier (50 free, 20.69), Keller Timber Creek's Aaron Greene (100 back, 49.27), Reagan's Andrew Skowronek (100 fly, 49.39) and Northside Marshall's David Moore (200 IM, 1:48.40).<\/p>\n
Girls<\/b>
\nKeller's Laura Norman came to the wall first in the 200 IM (2:04.46), just ahead of Keller Central's Madi Straight (2:04.57). Norman had an easier time of it in the 100 back, winning in 55.79. <\/p>\n
Raquel Grays of San Antonio Johnson edged out Rockwall's Raene Eldridge for first in the 50 free, 23.37-23.43. The 100 free title went to San Antonio Reagan's Sarah Gibson (50.14).<\/p>\n
Houston Memorial's Alexandra Butcher claimed the 200 free with her 1:48.45, and Klein Collins' Ashley Boyles took charge in the 500 free, posting a 4:50.27.<\/p>\n
Summer Campbell from Fort Worth Paschal stopped the clock in 55.35 for her victory in the 100 fly, and Houston Cypress Woods' Ashley Brem swam to a 1:03.84 first-place finish in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n
The diving title went to Midland's Anna James, whose score of 496.65 points edged out Southlake Carroll's Lauren Crown (489.40).<\/p>\n
Humble Kingwood's Lauren Day, Madeline Hazie, Leah Pfitzer and Katheryn Nolen combined for a 1:45.47 in the 200 medley relay; Lexie Lupton and Kelsey Opiela joined Nolen and Pfitzer on the winning 200 free relay (1:35.86), 3-hundredths ahead of Southlake Carroll's Lindsay Schultz, Emily Zapinski, Ashlin Anderson and Emily Gibson (1:35.89).
