Across the board the men were especially impressive. In the race between ranked Division III teams, WashU beat DePauw.<\/p>\n<h3>Chicago Freshmen Make Debut<\/h3>\n<p>The University of Chicago Maroons collectively went 0-5 against Division I competition on Friday night, before both the men (190 to 90) and the women (222 to 71) picked up wins over Wheaton (IL) on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>For the women the high point of Friday night was\u00a0<strong>Nicole Lin<\/strong>&#8216;s second place finish in the 50 free (24.03). She was also 54.00 in the 100. Freshman\u00a0<strong>Alice Ye\u00a0<\/strong>also added a runner up finish with a 4:39.90 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday\u00a0<strong>Margaret Wolfson\u00a0<\/strong>went a 2:25.95 to win the 200 breaststroke, a time that puts her sixth in the country.\u00a0Senior\u00a0<strong>Brooke Barnes\u00a0<\/strong>was the bright spot for the Thunder, winning the 50 (24.94) and 100 (54.31) freestyles. Barnes also brought home the team&#8217;s 400 freestyle relay in 52.96, coming up less than a second short of catching the Maroons.<\/p>\n<p>Friday night the Chicago men put together several swims that finished in the top four, and posted a few nationally relevant times as well.\u00a0Freshman\u00a0<strong>Nick Ding\u00a0<\/strong>put himself on the map in his collegiate debut. He\u00a0was third in the 200 fly (1:53.40) and second in the 100 fly (50.88) and 400 IM (4:07.08). He&#8217;s now ranked fourth nationally in the butterflies and sixth in the 400 IM.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Byrne Litschgi\u00a0<\/strong>got to the wall in 1:52.63 in the 200 back, a time that currently sits third in Division III.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday Ding (1:45.63) and fellow freshman\u00a0<strong>Jp Phillips\u00a0<\/strong>(1:48.24) went one-two in the 200 free. Juniors\u00a0<strong>Lance Culjat\u00a0<\/strong>and <strong>Reona Yamaguchi<\/strong> both got under 1:00 (58.55 and 59.87 respectively) in the 100 breast.<\/p>\n<p>The meet ended with a tight race, as Chicago out touched Wheaton 3:13.64 to 3:13.69 to win the 400 medley relay.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-northwestern-quad-meet-women-ncaa-college-2018-10-26.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northwestern Quad Women&#8217;s Results<\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-northwestern-quad-men-ncaa-college-2018-10-26.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northwestern Quad Men&#8217;s Results<\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-chicago-vs-wheaton-il-ncaa-college-2018-10-27.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago vs. Wheaton (IL) Results<\/a><\/h4>\n<h3>Pomona-Pitzer Men Post Slew of Top Ten Times<\/h3>\n<p>Friday night the Pomona-Pitzer women fell 174 to 117 at California Baptist University before rebounding with a 159.5 to 137.5 victory over Concordia University Irvine on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Sagehen women&#8217;s medley relays could see some turnover this year as freshman\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Gill\u00a0<\/strong>swam a 1:05.53 100 breast on Friday night. Her classmate\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Werner\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 2:24.64 200 breaststroke for second place. Gill appears to be the freshman who will challenge for the relay spots, posting a 30.52 in the 50 on Saturday, while Werner was a 32.94.<\/p>\n<p>Senior<strong> Madison Kauahi\u00a0<\/strong>has maintained form, starting her senior year off with a 50 freestyle victory in 24.47, and taking the 100 free in 53.64 against CBU. Sprinting is the bright spot for the Sagehen&#8217;s freestyle efforts, as the group so far lacks depth and speed in distances over the 100.<\/p>\n<p>The men lost to CBU 187 to 107, but won big over Concordia, 192 to 60 on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luka Menkhoff\u00a0<\/strong>was second in the 100 breast on Friday with a 57.07 (number three nationally). He was also runner-up in the 100 free with a 46.61 (number seven nationally).\u00a0Freshman\u00a0<strong>Jason Lu\u00a0<\/strong>raced to a 1:52.84 200 backstroke and a 1:55.41 200 IM this weekend (both times are fourth in DIII).<\/p>\n<p>Saturday junior\u00a0<strong>Will Abele\u00a0<\/strong>went a 1:43.84 for the 200 freestyle victory.\u00a0Junior\u00a0<strong>Liam O&#8217;Shea\u00a0<\/strong>and Lu went head to head in the 400 IM, finishing in 4:06.98 and 4:06.99, respectively, the fourth and fifth best times in the country.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-pomona-pitzer-vs-calbaptist-ncaa-college-2018-10-26.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results vs. CBU<\/a><\/h4>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-pomona-pitzer-vs-concordia-irvine-ncaa-college-2018-10-27.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Results vs. Concordia<\/a><\/h4>\n<h3>CMS Falls to UC San Diego<\/h3>\n<p>The Athenas fell to UC San Diego 83 to 201 while the Stags kept things a bit closer, losing 116 to 176 in their season opener.<\/p>\n<p>Two freshmen women were under 1:10 in the 100 breast:\u00a0<strong>Augusta Lewis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.68) and\u00a0<strong>Rachel Wander\u00a0<\/strong>(1:09.53). With both of last year&#8217;s National qualifying breastsstrokers now juniors, these two could be important for the Athenas&#8217; breaststroke future.<\/p>\n<p>The men&#8217;s swims provided a few indications of a promising season ahead.\u00a0Freshman\u00a0<strong>Michael Lee <\/strong>went a 1:44.87 in the 200 free and a 4:40.86 in the 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>Senior\u00a0<strong>Aaron Lutzker <\/strong>posted a\u00a058.19 100 breast for third. The Stags took the top three spots in the 200 fly with a trio of 1:55s, led by senior\u00a0<strong>John Everett\u00a0<\/strong>in 1:55.38.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andreas Rosesler\u00a0<\/strong>posted a 47.58 100 free while\u00a0<strong>Henry Limm <\/strong>swam\u00a0a 2:06.81 200 breast for the third fastest time in the country this fall. Freshman <strong>Nicholas Tan\u00a0<\/strong>recorded the country&#8217;s sixth fastest 200 IM: 1:55.94.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-cms-vs-uc-san-diego-ncaa-college-2018-10-27.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Full Results<\/a><\/h4>\n<h3>#10 Wash U Out Swims #23 DePauw<\/h3>\n<p>DePauw freshman <strong>Tommy Hackley <\/strong>was the Tigers&#8217; sole winner of the day. He\u00a0won the mile in 16:35.97. He also edged WashU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Jordan Wheeler\u00a0<\/strong>in the 500 4:47.03 to 4:47.57.<\/p>\n<p>WashU&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Matthew Yang\u00a0<\/strong>topped the 100 breast in 58.41.\u00a0<strong>Brandon Lum\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 fly in 1:51.24, the fastest time in the country so far this fall. The Bears headed home with a 176-98 victory over the Tigers.<\/p>\n<p>The seventh ranked WashU women beat DePauw 185 to 97.<\/p>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-washu-vs-depauw-ncaa-college-2018-10-27.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Full Results<\/a><\/h4>\n<h3>Also of Note<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Swarthmore sophomore\u00a0<strong>Alec Menzer\u00a0<\/strong>won the 200 free against McDaniel College on Saturday. His 1:41.39 is his sixth best time ever, and a full three seconds faster than he&#8217;s ever been in a dual meet.<\/li>\n<li>Swarthmore senior\u00a0<strong>Jeffrey Tse\u00a0<\/strong>went a lifetime best 100 breaststroke of 57.48. It&#8217;s the fifth best time in Division III this year.<\/li>\n<li>Trinity University (TX) sophomore\u00a0<strong>Mabel Fowler\u00a0<\/strong>was on a roll against University of Incarnate Word.
