JENKS, Oklahoma, February 18. FORT Gibson's girls team and the boys' squad from Bixby captured team titles at the Oklahoma 5A Swimming Championships Feb. 15-16. Two 5A state records fell–one girls and one boys–and seven swimmers earned the maximum amount of two event titles apiece.<\/p>\n
Girls<\/b>
\nFort Gibson's 299 points gave them the girls championship, with Stillwater taking second (266), Bixby (237), Harrah (139) and B.T. Washington (129). Fort Gibson's 200 free relay of Kyla Martin, Whitney Stroup, Leslie White and Hannah Cantrell erased the team's 2010 5A record of 1:47.81 with their 1:46.34. White posted a 1:08.96 in the 100 breast and a 2:10.66 in the 200 IM to record her double wins.<\/p>\n
Three other girls were two-event champions as well: Carl Albert's Anka Lukannek (50 free, 24.72; 100 free, 53.61), Jessi Hildebrand from Newcastle (200 free, 1:55.82; 100 fly, 58.73) and Piedmont's Kasey Rein (500 free, 5:24.97; 100 back, 1:00.21).<\/p>\n
Stillwater started and ended the girls meet with relay victories. Their 200 medley relay of Sydney Goad, Brooke Niaa, Alex Thomas and Lauren Gattis claimed first with their 1:59.13. Goad and Thomas were joined by Kelsey Haseley and Kayla Dunn to close out the girls meet in the 400 free relay in 3:55.47.<\/p>\n
Boys<\/b>
\nThe lone 5A record among the boys fell to Preston Selby, swimming for Harding Charter Prep. His 51.44 in the 100 fly took down Khyle Hill's 52.25 from last year. He also took home a first-place award in the 100 back, swimming a 51.56.<\/p>\n
Two others claimed first in two events as well: Harrah's Riley Bunyard (200 and 500 free, 1:46.55 and 4:50.27) and Mason York from Kingfisher (200 IM, 2:00.34; 100 breast, 59.23). The sprint free titles went to Altus' Garrett Thompson (50 free, 22.34) and Ben Deibert of Bixby (100 free, 49.62).<\/p>\n
Shawnee's 200 free relay, consisting of Cade Chlouber, Jon Matanane, Weston Foote and Mark Roselius placed comfortably in first (1:32.80). The other two relays featured close finishes for the top two positions. In the 400 free relay, 14-hundredths separated Bixby's team of Ryan Knam, Logan Wagner, Brian Lee and Deibert from Altus' quartet of Thompson, Daniel Brown, Matt Bowen and Paul Davis (3:23.80-3:23.94).<\/p>\n
The margin of victory was even closer in the 200 medley–4-hundredths–between Shawnee's Matanane, Sean Winegardner, Chlouber and Roselius; and Harrah's team of David Heise, Daniel Zawisza, Harvey and Daniel Fijalka.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
