COLLEGE STATION, Texas, February 2.THE Texas A&M women's swimming and diving team closed out its regular season with a 173-110 dual meet win against the University of Houston at the Student Recreation Center on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The Aggies began the meet honoring the eight graduating seniors, Meagan Hairston, Jordan King, Maureen McLaine, Liz Nelson, Christine Regone, Jaclin Rehring, Tess Simpson, and Rebecca St. Germain.<\/p>\n
“I'm so pleased with the seniors,” said head coach Steve Bultman. “This group really epitomizes hard work, and has set goals for themselves and the team.”<\/p>\n
Leading the way for the team with multiple wins were sophomore Sarah Henry, junior Olympians Cammile Adams and Breeja Larson, and senior diver Rebecca St. Germain. Henry won the 200 free in 1:48.19 and then the 400 I.M. in 4:14.28. Adams started off with her best event, the 200 fly finishing in 1:56.71 and then took down the 500 free in 4:49.63. Larson won the 50 free in 23.77 then moved on to the 200 breast to win with a time of 2:10.62. Finally, St. Germain swept the dives winning the 1-meter with a score of 283.88 and the 3-meter with 302.10.<\/p>\n
Winning the 400 medley relay in 3:40.05 was the foursome of junior Paige Miller, Larson, junior Caroline McElhany, and sophomore Liliana Ibanez. From there the individual wins came from junior Melanie McClure in the 1000 free in 10:14.77, Miller in the 100 back in 54.97, freshman Ashley McGregor in the 100 breast in 1:03.46, Ibanez in the 100 free in 50.68, senior Tess Simpson in the 200 back in 1:59.70, and McElhany in the 100 fly in 55.01. The Aggies closed out the meet with the foursome of of Ibanez, McElhany, Claire Brandt, and Allyson Sweeney winning the 200 free relay in 1:34.62.<\/p>\n
The Aggies improved to 9-1 and will have two weeks to rest and prepare for the SEC Championships which will be held in College Station at the Student Recreation Center from Feb. 19-23.<\/p>\n
