The two-day meet ended with a win for the No. 16 men against both No. 10 Texas A&amp;M, 199-153 and No. 11 Louisville, 192-161.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 17 Ohio State women\u2019s team fell to the No. 5 Texas A&amp;M women, 209-142. Louisville did not send a complete women\u2019s team and was not included in the scoring on the women\u2019s side.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>QUOTING HEAD COACH BILL DORENKOTT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m proud of the team &#8211; swimming, diving, men and women competed tough all weekend. We had some great leadership from within the team. Outstanding effort.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>On the success from the relays<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so important when you get to the Big Ten and NCAA Championships. It\u2019s a focal point for us. We\u2019ve had some real breakthroughs on the women\u2019s side the past few years, relay-wise, at the NCAAs, and our men\u2019s team has the potential to be special this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>On what stood out to him over the two-day meet<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the women\u2019s side, I was very pleased because we had a lot of tough doubles over the course of the week. The way the ladies approached those doubles just speaks to a level of toughness that we haven\u2019t had in the past, so that\u2019s greatly appreciated. On the men\u2019s side, we have a young team. It\u2019s just a question of figuring out who we can be and taking the steps necessary to get there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>On the team moving forward<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited. It\u2019s a great group of kids and they\u2019re fun to coach. I think there\u2019s a buzz going on in McCorkle. We\u2019ve got a special thing going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED &#8211; WOMEN\u2019S TEAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The women began the day trailing No. 5 Texas A&amp;M, 104-63.<\/li>\n<li>M<strong>arianne Kahmann, Hanna Gresser, Rebekah Bradley<\/strong> and <strong>Freya Rayner<\/strong> took second in the 200 Medley Relay to start the second day, clocking in at 1:41.77.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kathrin Demler<\/strong> claimed second in the 400 IM, posting an NCAA B Cut time of 4:16.43. Demler continued a successful meet after placing second in the 200 IM and the 100 Fly. Demler is the first on the women\u2019s team to post an NCAA qualifying time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maria Coy<\/strong> (1:51.67) and<strong> Kristen Romano<\/strong> (1:52.05) finished together in the 200 Free, placing fifth and sixth, respectively.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Katie Trace<\/strong> was the top finisher for OSU in the 100 Fly, clocking in at 55.94 at placing fifth.<\/li>\n<li>Gresser picked up a fourth-place finish in the 200 Breast, posting a time of 2:19.10.<\/li>\n<li>Rayner won the first race of the day for the women in the 50 Free, touching the wall at 23.16.\u00a0 Coy followed in third with a time of 23.39.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Molly Kowal<\/strong> continued to dominate the distance races, winning the 1000 Free with a time of 10:08.34. <strong>Grace Kowal<\/strong> followed in second at 10:11.86 and <strong>Nicole Fye<\/strong> picked up fourth with a readout of 10:13.23.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lara Tarvit<\/strong> claimed second on the 1 meter, posting a score of 280.90. <strong>Genevieve Angerame<\/strong> took third with a score of 272.10, and Ali House rounded out the scoring efforst for the Buckeyes with a sixth-place finish and a tally of 253.00.<\/li>\n<li>The women\u2019s 400 Free Relay team of Taylor Petrak, Coy, Trace and Rayner clocked in at 3:23.08.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOW IT HAPPENED &#8211; MEN\u2019S TEAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ben Sugar, Jason Mathews, Michael Salazar and Ruslan Gaziev claimed second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:29.10.<\/li>\n<li>Daniel Gloude pulled ahead of Louisville in the 400 IM, grabbing third place with a time of 4:00.36.<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Loy (1:38.94) and Matt Abeysinghe (1:38.99) finished two-three in the 200 Free.<\/li>\n<li>Salazar took second in the 100 Fly with a time of 48.42, followed by Henrique Painhas in third with a time of 48.70.<\/li>\n<li>Mathews narrowly missed first in the 200 Breast, clocking in at 1:59.15 to place second. Paul DeLakis took fourth with a time of 2:03.51 and Stefano Batista placed sixth with a time of 2:04.30.<\/li>\n<li>Teo Chavez was the top finisher for the Buckeyes in the 50 Free, posting a time of 20.22 for second place. Andrew Loy finished fourth with a readout of 20.32, and Sem Andreis followed closely behind in fifth with a time of 20.41.<\/li>\n<li>Nick Hogsed placed fourth in the 1000 Free, posting a time of 9:28.06. Carson Burt followed in sixth with a time of 9:30.81.<\/li>\n<li>Jacob Fielding finished second on the 1 meter board, registering a score of 385.95, followed by Aaron Daniels-Freeman in third with a score of 334.80 and Quinlan DeVal in fourth with a mark of 331.80.<\/li>\n<li>The men\u2019s 400 Free Relay team garnered a big finish with a win at 2:56.68.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OVERALL EVENT WINS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>200 Free Relay &#8211; Rayner, Coy, Petrak, Bradley &#8211; 1:32.42<\/li>\n<li>200 Free Relay &#8211; T. Chavez, Abeysinghe &#8211; 1:19.83<\/li>\n<li>500 Free &#8211; Molly Kowal, 4:52.25<\/li>\n<li>100 Breast &#8211; Jason Mathews, 54.64<\/li>\n<li>400 Medley Relay &#8211; Painhas, Mathews, Lense, Loy<\/li>\n<li>3 Meter &#8211; Genevieve Angerame, 315.40<\/li>\n<li>50 Free &#8211; Freya Rayner, 23.16<\/li>\n<li>1000 Free &#8211; Molly Kowal, 10:08.34<\/li>\n<li>400 Free Relay &#8211; Petrak, Coy, Trace, Rayner &#8211; 3:23.08<\/li>\n<li>400 Free Relay &#8211; Loy, DeLakis, Andreis, Abeysinghe &#8211; 2:56.68<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In diving, A&amp;M&#8217;s captain <strong><dfn>Sam Thornton<\/dfn><\/strong> won the 3-meter dive with a score a 406.15.<\/p>\n<p><strong><dfn>Adam Koster<\/dfn><\/strong> (44.02) and <strong><dfn>Mike Thibert<\/dfn> <\/strong>(44.21) finished 1-2 for the Aggies in the 100 yard freestyle.<\/p>\n<p>Texas A&amp;M captain <dfn><strong>Sydney Pickrem<\/strong><\/dfn> had her first individual wins of the year in the 200 yard IM (1:58.64) and the 200 yard backstroke (1:57.95).<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 yard freestyle, <strong><dfn>Claire Rasmus<\/dfn> <\/strong>and <dfn><strong>Katie Portz<\/strong><\/dfn> tied for the individual victory, swimming a 50.76. <dfn><strong>Taylor Pike<\/strong><\/dfn> won the 200 yard butterfly (1:57.99).<\/p>\n<p><dfn><strong>Anna Belousov<\/strong>a<\/dfn> came out on top with a gutsy individual performance in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:01.89).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>\u2014 The above press release was posted by Swimming World in conjunction with Ohio State and Texas A&amp;M<\/i><i>.
