The 2018-19 college season is starting to kick into full gear with a lot of teams starting off their seasons this coming weekend.<\/p>\n

The Atlantic Coast Conference is a large swimming conference with 12 of the 15 schools being represented by some way in the pool.<\/p>\n

Meet of the Week<\/h3>\n

The meet of the week has to be the SMU Classic on the women’s side. ACC teams Virginia, Louisville and Miami will be in attendance at the meet in Dallas. SMU will also host Southern Cal and Iowa in the six team matchup.<\/p>\n

The women’s only meet will be the first chance for the swimmers to put on suits and see where they are in mid-October. No jaw dropping times are expected, but it will be a nice competitive meet between three teams that placed in the top 12 at NCAA’s last year with Louisville (5th), Virginia (9th) and Southern Cal (12th).<\/p>\n

This meet is usually a smaller meet with the teams only taking close to 10 or 12 total swimmers to the competition. Louisville’s\u00a0Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>will most likely be swimming in the meet and will challenge Virginia’s\u00a0Morgan Hill\u00a0<\/strong>in the freestyle races.<\/p>\n

Virginia returns this season as the reigning ACC champions after getting the title back from NC State, who won its first conference title in 2017. The Cavaliers and the Cardinals from Louisville were the top two teams last year at the ACC meet and will challenge each other again this season.<\/p>\n

Miami will also be present at the meet in Dallas as they return diver\u00a0Carolyn Chaney<\/strong>, who qualified for the NCAA meet a year ago.<\/p>\n

Also Look Out For…<\/h3>\n

The Louisville men will be traveling to Ohio State to take on Texas A&M and the Buckeyes in a tri-meet. Louisville placed ninth last year at NCAA’s while Texas A&M was 14th.<\/p>\n

Notre Dame will also travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Hoosiers in an in-state matchup. SEC rivals Missouri and Kentucky will also be at the meet in a quad meet setup. On the men’s side, Indiana (3rd), Missouri (23rd) and Notre Dame (23rd) placed in the top 25 at the NCAA meet last year. While on the women’s side, Indiana (8th), Kentucky (14th) and Missouri (15th) placed in the top 15.<\/p>\n

It should be a very competitive meet as\u00a0Zach Yeadon\u00a0<\/strong>of the Fighting Irish returns this season for his sophomore year as one of the best distance swimmers in the country.<\/p>\n
