This week\u2019s Performance of the Week goes to Brazilian <\/span>Nicholas Santos <\/b>for <\/span>his world record in the 50 butterfly<\/span><\/a> at the Budapest stop of the 2018 FINA World Cup. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Brazilian became just the fourth man to swim under 22 seconds in the short course 50 butterfly, hitting the wall in 21.75 to break <\/span>Steffen Diebler\u2019s <\/b>old mark of 21.80. That record was set way back in 2009, at the World Cup in Berlin at the height of the supersuit era. <\/span><\/p>\n

Santos, who is a veteran of the sport at 38-years-old, had tied his own Brazilian record in Eindhoven last week with a 22.08, making this a massive 3-tenths drop in just a week\u2019s time and earning him a $10,000 world record bonus. You can see a video of Santos swim below:<\/span><\/p>\n
